A new update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has made some unexpected balance adjustments to classic 2022 weapons Modern Warfare 2with a plethora of shotguns, handguns, sniper rifles and more receiving significant buffs. While there are only a few short weeks left until the release of Black Ops 6it looks like developer Sledgehammer Games is trying to provide Modern Warfare 3 a big send off by bringing some iconic weapons back into the mix.
Sledgehammer Games and Raven Software kicked off the month of October with a brand new update for both War zone and Modern Warfare 3with a handful of bug fixes and balance tweaks to the popular first-person shooters. While the latest War zone update saw Crossbow from Modern Warfare 2 get an impressive buff, with an increase in bolt speed and a decrease in gravity influence, it was Modern Warfare 3 which saw a large number of weapons once again become viable options within the game's multiplayer modes.
As described in the official patch notes, a number of weapons from the 2022 century Modern Warfare 2 has been polished lately Modern Warfare 3 update. The M13C rifle, for example, has had its maximum damage increased from 31 to 32, meaning it can now kill in four rounds if at least one bullet is a headshot, Sledgehammer says. A host of shotguns have also seen significant buffs, including the KV Broadside, Lockwood 300, Expedite 12, Bryson 800, and Bryson 890. All of the aforementioned shotguns have had their damage range increased, but the details, such as maximum damage range and near-medium damage range, vary between every weapon.
Modern Warfare 2 weapons buffered in the latest MW3 update
While the majority of the patch seems to be centered around buffing some classic Modern Warfare 2 weapons, the update also nerfs Modern Warfare 3's DTIR 30-06 battle rifle. The DTIR 30-06 was added as part of the Season 6 Battle Pass and quickly became the new meta weapon in both War zone and Modern Warfare 3. Unfortunately, the popular Battle Rifle has received a significant nerf in both games, reducing the weapon's torso damage multiplier from 1.3x to 1x in Modern Warfare 3 and increase the gun's recoil kick to 32 deg/s from 27.5 deg/s in War zone. A number of changes were also made to several weapon mounts for the DTIR 30-06 in the weapon War zone version.
Although it's not the first time Modern Warfare 2 weapons have received a buff Modern Warfare 3the October 1st update looks to be one of the most significant tweaks in a long time. Earlier this year, War zone reduced the obstructive VFX on Modern Warfare 2 weapons to make them more aligned with Modern Warfare 3 weapons, but now many shotguns, handguns and more are fully viable options in the 2023 shooter thanks to the latest rounds of buffs. It is unclear if this means that these updated weapons will be the new ones Modern Warfare 3 meta, but with Black Ops 6 just around the corner it may be too late.
