Minecraft's new movie content can be fun, but it hardly scratches the surface

MinecraftSysta update has added two articles to the game that binds to A Minecraft movie. The first is a lava chicken album that sinks after players defeated a baby zombie riding on a chicken, which is a reference to the viral chicken jockey MEME from the movie. The music record plays a reworked instrumental version of Steve's Lava Chicken Song from the movie, this time with singing from a singing villagers. The second article is a painting by Dennis, Steve's Loyal Pet Wolf from the movie. Dennis quickly became a fan favorite, and now players can hang a tribute to him in their world.

Both the record and the painting are fun little nods to the film's most viral moments, but that's about as far as possible. A Minecraft movie introduced new characters, articles and recipes that fans directly loved. Since then, society has increased with fan-made mods and Youtube tutorials that recreat film elements with the help of provisional tools in the game. But none of that has been officially added to the game. Instead of building on the film's speed, Mojang chose to play it safely with a couple of cosmetic articles that do not affect the game at all, so hopefully it will be a little further with some additional updates.

Minecraft update adds new articles based on the movie

Minecraft loses a surprising update and adds new articles to the game based on a Minecraft movie, including one of its biggest memes.

Why Minecraft's items are nice, but not enough

Players have already begun to express their disappointment at how shallow movie binding feels. At Reddit, a user said that they will not play the Lava chicken disc besides annoying their friends. Another Reddit user commented that the lava chicken record does not really fit into all other music records. And they are not wrong – the new music feels particularly disconnected from MinecraftS carefully built in the game Lore and Vibe. Given how successful the film was and how much it extended Minecraft The universe, fans expected something more meaningful than cosmetic fluff that feels in place.

The same goes for the Dennis painting. It is a static image without interactivity, no context and no explanation in the game for its existence. Wolves have long been a part of the game, so Mojang had a perfect opportunity to introduce Dennis as a rare, unique tummary companion in Minecraft with a special appearance or personality trait deducted from the film. He could even have triggered mini-quests or random jungle or rainfall based on scenes from the movie.

Mojang can take a page out of Epic Games book

Epic games have shown how deep IP Crossovers can be. When it collaborated with Marvel, Epic did not just accompany superhero leather Fortnite; It created a whole game mode with a playable Thanos, Infinity Stones and Power's tied to the characters. Lately Star Wars Crossover, the game spent a whole season to IP. FortniteStandard Battle Royale Mode had X-Wing and Tie Fighters, Mythical Lamps and the Standard Pool replaced completely for Star Wars subject. In the end, other games that have such deep crossovers are what does MinecraftA -approach feels so disappointing. Unlike FortniteMojang didn't even have to deal with license issues because it together owns Minecraft Film. But instead of using that freedom to create something expansionary, the game has been satisfied with two small cosmetic objects so far.

What Mojang could have added (and could still add)

One of the coolest additions in A Minecraft movie Was Super Iron Golem, which was an iron floor that carries boots of speed. Mojang could have introduced it to the game as a new Golem type, perhaps as part of a special assignment. The mechanics were already established in the film: Dashing Attacks, Bigger Jumps and an Area Knockback Effect. The film also introduced a new villain, Malgosha. She was a damaged magician who turned normal crowds into glitchy, twisted versions and infected whole cinema. Mojang could have taken her into the game through a special corruption event, where some cinema glitch visually and bullies act in strange, unpredictable ways.

The film also introduced funny new objects, such as Henry's Tater Tot Launcher, which he built with batteries, paper clips and Tots. Minecraft Maybe not have the exact materials, but Mojang can easily add similar items to create a custom recipe. Launcher could shoot back MinecraftMobs in a wide area or cover the soil in a fat effect that causes enemies to slip. These additions would remain faithful to the film's tone while having real gaming influence. Hopefully, the film-inspired content will continue in addition to these Meme-worthy additions, as they should only be the beginning of the game's film content.
