Io Interactive has thrown doubts about the future of its third -party publication efforts after the disastrous launch of Mindseyea game that once hyphened as a potential rival for Grand Theft Auto. Mindseye was the first game published by IOI Partners, the external publishing label for IO Interactive, and seems to have put the subsidiary in danger.
IOI -Partners was launched in 2024 as a way for Hitman Series Developer IO Interactive to expand to game publishing and support other studios. The label's debut publishing project, Mindseye From the Scottish Developer Build a rocket boy was expected to be a declaration of intent. With prominent ex-Gta Developer Leslie Benzies Helming Mindseye And marketing that placed it as an ambitious sci-fi shooter with live-service potential, hope was high that the game would be a breakout.
Io Interactive CEO is not satisfied with Mindseyes launch
Instead, Mindseye Launched in June to make reviews and a wave of players from players, and quickly became one of the most notorious failures in the latest memory. Critics threw Mindseye For an intermediate story, short Runtime and dazzling technical problems, and it is currently one of the worst ranked games in this console generation. Now Io Interactive CEO Hakan Abrak has reflected on MindseyeCommercial performance. Abrak, who spoke in an IGN interview, admitted Abrak that the reception was “definitely tough” and not what neither io interactively nor build a rocket boy had hoped.
While Abrak praised building a rocket boy's creativity around MindseyeHe was Noncomittal about ioi's futureJust saying: “Io Interactive will publish our own games internally. IOI partners? It remains to be seen.” The statement is a bit about, to say the least, as it means that IO Interactive evaluates third -party publishing after the catastrophic failure that was Mindseye. Publishing and marketing a game can be a rather expensive endeavor, and in the case of MindseyeThere is nothing that says how much money IOI partners may have lost.
So io Interactive will publish our own games internally. IOI -Partners? It remains to be seen.
However, it is worth noting that Abrak's words do not really confirm that IOI partners will end. There is a possibility that the publishing label can reduce its ambitions and seek less games to publish from new indie developers, which would minimize the financial risk for IOI Partners and even help get more innovative games to the market. One of the most remarkable and latest examples of this phenomenon were Dunkey-Publiced Animals wellwhich was launched in May 2024 for glowing reviews and huge praise from players.
