The first new class is added Diablo 4 since its launch is Spiritborn. Included with The ship of hate DLC, the Spiritborn class feels incredible to play thanks to a variety of synergies and playstyles available to the class. In fact, almost every build for the Spiritborn class is competitive at high Torment levels – but some builds take advantage of the Spiritborn class's strengths to really push it to its limits.

Diablo 4: How to get Rakanoth's Wake Unique
Rakanoth's Wake is one of the new powerful unique items for Spiritborn in Vessel of Hatred. See how to get these boots here.
These top Spiritborn builds are ranked from least to most effective, but they're only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Spiritborn builds. While leveling, it's a good idea to try and create your own build when leveling a Spiritborn to learn the class and what you like about it, then switch over to try one of these top-level Spiritborn builds when you reach the endgame and can put together the pieces needed to make them work.
5 Jaguar Thorns
Necessary skills |
Rake, Ravager, Armored Hide, Scourge, Counterattack, The Hunter |
Mandatory aspects |
Bristleback, Needleflare, Apprehension, Duelist's, Wild Claws, Plains Power |
Unique required |
Cloak of Loyalty, Wound Drinker, Razorplate |
The Jaguar Thorns build is a unique Spiritborn build Diablo 4 which relies on building Thorns damage, improving your survivability, applying Vulnerable almost endlessly, and generating Unstoppable all the time. The build requires Razorplate to be unique to be most effective, but it works as both a great leveling and endgame build.
Compared to other Spiritborn builds, it doesn't really compare at high Torment levels, but it's fun and effective (and can perfectly complete high Torment content, just not as fast).
Although it is ranked last on this list of the best Spiritborn builds Diablo 4Jaguar Thorn's Spiritborn build is still miles ahead of many other class builds, even challenging some of the best non-Spiritborn builds in some content.
4 Refund
Necessary skills |
Payback, Thrash, Concussive Stomp, The Hunter, Ravager |
Mandatory aspects |
Plains Power, Hectic, Combined Strikes, Moonrise |
Unique required |
Loyalty's Mantle, Rod of Kepeleke, Flickerstep, Ring of the Midnight Sun |
The Payback build is a combination of Gorilla and Jaguar Spirit Hall abilities that have high actions per minute but can put out some of the most consistent, highest damage numbers – when you have all the pieces. This build relies on Rod of Kepeleke to trigger the third attack of Thrash and increase Rake while generating CC with Gorilla abilities. The eponymous Payback skill is the centerpiece of this build. This Potency Skill allows players to take revenge for a huge amount of damage on a cooldown that is lowered when you are hit by enemies.

Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred – All Runewords (& What They Do)
Each runeword in Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred requires the creation of two runes: ritual runes, or triggers, and invocation runes, or effects.
With this build, you can jump into hordes of enemies and hold your own as you rotate between cooldowns and tear through everything in your path. Just make sure you have Jaguar/Jaguar Spirit Hall, Loyalty's Mantle Unique Helm and Rod of Kepeleke before you try to build this build – it's not quite as good when leveling as it has the potential to be in the end game with the right gear.
3 Touch of Death
Necessary skills |
Touch of Death, Withering Fist, Scourge, Vortex, The Hunter, Toxic Skin |
Mandatory aspects |
Soil Power, Insatiable, Duelist's, Reaper's, Plains Power |
Unique required |
Ring of the Midday Hunt, Scorn of the Earth, Harmony of Ebewaka, Craze of the Dead God |
The Touch of Death Spiritborn build is becoming one of the most popular Spiritborn builds Diablo 4 after the Eagle Evade bug fix. This build relies on the Touch of Death skill which deals massive amounts of poison damage over time and bursts to infect nearby enemies.
The build is admittedly squishy thanks to its focus on Centipede abilities over the more tanky Gorilla skills, but it makes up for it with great healing in Scourge, near-unmatched AoE damage, and a rotation that's engaging without being overwhelming.
This build relies on the Craze of the Dead God and Ring of the Midday Hunt uniques, which automatically cast Touch of Death and greatly reduce the time it takes for poison damage to tick, respectively.
Like the Payback build, it's harder to level than the latter two top Spiritborn builds on this list, but in the endgame it easily competes with those high-level top contenders in Torment 4. It's just easy less effective, but if you don't like the Quill Volley or Evade builds, the Touch of Death build might be what you're looking for when choosing a Spiritborn build.
2 The eagle avoid
Necessary skills |
Thudnerspike, Soar, Armored Hide, Scourge, The Seeker, Counterattack |
Mandatory aspects |
Interdiction, Elements, Binding Morass, Conceited, Redirected Force, Retribution |
Unique required |
Sepazontec, Cloak of Loyalty, Repentance Greaves |
The Spiritborn Eagle Evade build was easily the best build Diablo 4 during the first weeks of The ship of hate and D4 season 6 release. However, after a hotfix that fixed a bug that caused Evade to ignore the normal cooldown, allowing players to endlessly spam the ability non-stop and cause drops for other players, it has dropped somewhat in power.
But the Spiritborn Evade build is still an incredibly strong build for all aspects of Diablo 4even after this nerf to its main mechanic.

Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred – All Nahantu Dungeon Locations (& Aspect Rewards)
This guide will help players find all 20 dungeons in Diablo 4's Nahantu region, detailing the aspects unlocked by clearing them.
With Sepazontec's unique Quarterstaff, your Thunderspike's basic skill always casts with its 3rd cast effect, which just happens to reset your Evade cooldown completely. Due to the Accelerated Thunderspike node, you will automatically throw Thunderspike at nearby enemies when dodging.
So when you Evade, your Evade is reset automatically. With Eagle Spirit Hall, you send out feathers at enemies when you dodge, dealing huge damage and causing vulnerable.
If you can get the necessary uniques and aspects, and don't mind playing a build that is constantly moving and blasting projectiles all over the screen, the Eagle Evade build is truly one of the most broken builds in Diablo 4. But after the recent nerfs, the Quill Volley build reigns as the best Spiritborn build currently available in Diablo 4.
1 Quill volley
Necessary skills |
Quill Volley, Armored Hide, Scourge, The Hunter, Ravager, Counterattack, Vortex |
Mandatory aspects |
Moonrise, Duelist's, Apprehension, Interdiction, Redirected Force |
Unique required |
Rod of Kepeleke, Ring of the Midnight Sun, Jacinth Shell, Harmony of Ebewaka |
The Quill Volley build is one that demands a lot from players to be effective, but if you have all the pieces, you can easily run Torment 4 content while barely breaking a sweat. Quill Volley is a core skill that, with the right aspects and uniques to enhance it, becomes a machine gun that deals some of the highest consistent DPS of any build in the game.
For Uniques, you'll need Rod of Kepeleke, Harmony of Ebewaka, Jacinth Shell, and Ring of the Midnight Sun for this build to go together. These essentially restore your HP and Vigor enough to get the maximum effect from Rod of Kepeleke and avoid the negative effects of Jacinth Shell to quickly restore your cooldowns. Hold down the Quill Volley button at your enemies, press other buttons as they come up to increase your damage and survivability, and use The Hunter to get around – the build is so powerful on its own that it uses an Ultimate primarily as a mobility.
This build has a very high APM, no doubt, but your reward for mastering its constant flow of rolls and bonuses is the most defensive, most damaging, and currently the best overall build Diablo 4 players can have – let alone the best Spirirborn build D4.
