How would Elbaph change if Loki married Charlotte Lola?

Important takeaways

  • Loki was rejected by Lola, preventing a potential alliance between giants and Big Mom pirates.
  • Loki's refusal could have led him to want to rule Elbaph with Big Mom's help.
  • Loki's genuine love for Lola indicates a potentially softer side and a different path if they married.

Loki has finally been officially introduced to the story below One Piece's latest arc, Elbaph. The new prince of the giants has already become an imposing figure in the series, through words alone, generating huge amounts of intrigue as to just what his role in the story might be. However, despite only recently appearing in the story, the character has been mentioned for quite some time.

Interestingly, Loki's first mention in One Piece the story doesn't seem to line up exactly with his most modern appearance. In his first appearance, Loki was rejected by Charlotte Lola, leading to a failed alliance between the giants and Big Mom pirates. Although this moment may seem small, if Loki actually married Lola One Piece, the entire world would most likely face some dire consequences.

Lola rejected Loki before the start of One Piece

Freedom over marriage

As mentioned above, Loki was first mentioned during One Piece's Whole Cake Island Arc in Chapter 858. During this chapter, it is revealed that Big Mom, who is trying to improve the relations between everyone One Piece's races, tried to marry his daughter Lola to Loki. But Lola ran off to pursue her dream of becoming a pirate, leaving Loki devastated.

If Lola became a princess of Elbaph, she would be able to overcome her longstanding antagonism with giants.

This moment is interesting for two reasons. First, Big Mom has a very troubled relationship with the giants and One Piece's Elbaph Island. In her past, the previous emperor had destroyed a large part of their city and disrespected their traditions. Second, Loki is not the eldest son of the royal giant family. In fact, he is currently locked away in Elbaph's underworld, specifically held for murdering his father and stealing a Devil Fruit intended for Elbaph's future leader.

Loki may have wanted an alliance

Big Mom Pirates Plus Giants

The Big Mom Pirates celebrate the arranged marriage of Sanji and Pudding.

Just looking at the characters in general, it seems like the two are completely incompatible in many ways. While the newer One Piece the character, Loki, seems quite evil and wild, Lola is a much kinder person and a free spirit. Also, Loki and Lola's marriage proposal would take a while before he was locked away, about 6 years before Elbaph, otherwise the event wouldn't improve the Big Mom pirate's relationship with the giants.

It is possible that these characters could help Luffy and his friends again.

There is a chance that Loki off One Piece's the land of the giants wanted more than just Lola's hand in marriage. In fact, by allying with the Big Mom pirates, the giant could have easily usurped the kingdom of Elbaph, rather than allowing Shanks to claim the territory for himself. This could have made it much easier to reach the position of king, and allow him to take the mysterious stolen Devil Fruit without being imprisoned.

Loki was actually in love with Lola

A happy ending?

However, it seems more likely that the Prince of Elbaph Loki was actually in love with Lola and completely devastated by her rejection. Loki, after Lola's refusal, was actually offered in marriage to Chiffon, Lola's twin sister. The prince refused the offer, dashing all hopes of the giant kingdom and the Big Mom Pirates uniting. If Loki only intended to marry the Big Mom pirates to use their powers, he wouldn't have been so picky.

Want to make a deal, Luffy?

If Lola married Loki, he may have chosen a completely different path in life, choosing family over a chance to take over the kingdom of Elbaph. Perhaps, rather than usurping the Devil Fruit family, Loki would have been more appreciative of his position in life. Perhaps, with the power of the Big Mom pirates behind him, he would have felt much more fulfilled in his ambitions, rather than feeling the need to become more powerful.

So far, it is impossible to say exactly where One Piece's Elbaph Arc will go in the future. Loki's motives, personality, and power all remain a mystery, which creates so much speculation One Piece community. One thing about his personality is almost certain, though. Loki seemed to have a genuine love for Lola which left him torn after her rejection. If Lola and Loki had been married, Elbaph would be a much different and arguably nicer arc.
