Solo departmentJeju Island Arc is widely known for its intense fights between Korea's strongest hunters and Jeju Island's mutated ants. With a raid party consisting of 16 S-ranked hunters, together with Jin-Woo, the fourth attempt to regain Jeju Island is a success. But without an S-Rank Hunter or Jin-Woo himself, how many hunters would it take to defeat a Jeju Myra in Solo department?

Unlike the Dungeon ants in Seoul, the Jeju Island ants are clearly on another level. Even S-RANK Hunters are struggling to defeat one, especially when facing a high level with a marsh with improved strength and sustainability. While these ants are not a real challenge for Jin-Woo, non-Srank Hunters would fight to take down to a single one. Worse, the longer the struggle goes on, the more injured would inevitably accumulate.

How strong are Jeju Island ants?

Their strength is in another league

  • The Jeju Island ants show rapid mutation and quickly learn the ability to fly.

  • The mutated ants are much stronger than most Dungeon monsters.

  • The strength varies depending on the level of the ant.

Unlike most Dungeon monsters, especially the ants defeated by Jin-Woo during the incident with Hwang Dong-Suk's group, Jeju Island ants are more formidable. They are such a powerful force that a single ant attacking a village can kill over a hundred civilians, even when confronted by a group of non-Santy hunters. Because of their rapid development and adaptation, these ants learned to fly, in addition to their ability to feel danger. Even the Korean hunter association has begun to see them as more bi-like than anticipation because of their unexpected ability to take to heaven.

IN Solo department Chapter 95, the ants exhibit their resistance to Choi Jong-in Flamma attacks and forces the ultimate weapon to concentrate its attacks more. Their exoskeletons are extremely tough, making them very resistant to most physical and magical attacks. In addition, their speed and reflexes exceed those from typical Dungeon monsters, not to mention their sharp claws and mandibles that could easily penetrate armor.

“It looks even more like a human being and has wings on the back.” – News reporter referring to the mutated ants

Essentially, the longer ants roam freely in Jeju Island, the stronger they become. Still, their adaptation to the island comes with disadvantages. Ants that stay close to the colonial hatching experience eye degene from spending so much time in the dark. These workers are at a lower level than the flying variants, as their main role is to maintain the colony rather than fight. But that does not mean that they cannot develop further.

How many non-S-ranked hunters would it take to defeat a Jeju-ant?

Solo leveling chapter 83 reveals the details

Solo-nevel-A16-1

  • The strength of an A-rank Hunter is required to defeat a Jeju Island Ant without an S-Rank Hunter.

  • Korea lacks the necessary workforce to send capable hunters to each island.

Based on Solo department Chapter 83, the decisive factor for eliminating a mutated Jeju Island Ant without an S-rank Hunter or Sung Jin-Woo itself is the presence of at least one A-rank Hunter. Without an A-Rank Hunter on the stage, a high-level jeju-ant easily wipe out four e-rancers, a D-ranger and a C-Rank Hunter. In short, to eliminate only a mutated flying ant, Korea needs the power of an A-rank hunter at a minimum. Without the level of strength, there is nothing to say how many more low -level hunters or civilians can become victims of its outbreak. Who knows, it can even exceed its bill of 294 kill in Japan.

“Steel your nerves. If you don't, the ants can probably feel your fear and attack you first.”-Park Jong-So

What happened in Japan?

Solo Nive CELLING GO PISTOL HEE HEART

When a Jeju Island Ant attacks one of Japan's islands, the Japanese Hunter Association sends 108 hunters of mixed rankings to eliminate the threat. It is not an exaggerated number, given the ant's ability to fly and escape if it feels the danger. With its mobility, it can simply jump from one island to another and repeat the destruction cycle.

Japan, however, still ends with heavy injured despite its advanced Hunter system. If the same thing happens to Korea, the nation would meet serious labor issues even if KHA sends one or two low -ranked hunters to handle a single ant. Worse, these low -ranked hunters would probably end up as food for the ants and turn the situation into an even more serious crisis.

“The Ants have developed quite a lot. They differ greatly from last time” -Schoi Jong-in

While Korea has many hunters, it also has many islands that need protection. This is exactly why recycling of Jeju Island has become top priority. In the end, the strength of the Jeju Island ants lies in their overwhelming number, rapid development and remarkable adaptability. When these factors are combined it is easy to see why the previous attempts to clear the island all failed in Solo department.
