Horizon Zero Dawn is officially being remastered for both PlayStation 5 and PC. With a graphical update that brings the game up to the level of the sequel, Horizon Zero Dawn remastered is available worldwide on October 31.

When it was first released in 2017 for PlayStation 4 – and in 2020 for PC – Horizon Zero Dawn started a brand new sci-fi series centered on Aloy, a quick-witted hunter from the Nora tribe. Fans explored the apocalyptic ruins of America as they uncovered the truth behind the end of the old world and saved the new in the process. The game got a sequel in the form of Horizon Forbidden West 2022, with a third and probably last Horizon the contribution is expected to be revealed within the next few years.


However, it seems that players will get the chance to experience the beginning of the series in a whole new way long before then. During the recent Sony State of Play, Guerrilla Games officially revealed Horizon Zero Dawn remastered coming to both PlayStation 5 and PC on October 31st. This remastered version of the original game features hours of remastered motion capture, graphical fidelity on par with Horizon Forbidden Westand enhancements to take full advantage of modern PC and PlayStation 5 features to improve both visuals and performance.

The remastered version of the Horizon Zero Dawn will also include accessibility features introduced in Horizon Forbidden Westincluding remappable controls, haptic cues and auxiliary toggles. In addition, the remaster can read old save data, which means that players can download in the new version of Horizon Zero Dawn exactly where they left off in the original. Horizon Zero Dawn remastered will also be available on PlayStation 5 Pro when it launches on November 7.

Fans who already own the original Horizon Zero Dawn can upgrade to the digital version of the remaster for $10 – gamers who own the physical version can even do so by inserting the disc into their PlayStation 5 consoles. Those who don't have it yet can instead purchase the full game for $50 via the PlayStation Store, Epic Game Store or Steam.


If that wasn't exciting enough, LEGO Horizon Adventures – a light-hearted spin-off of the main series – will be released on November 14, just a couple of weeks after Horizon Zero Dawn remastered. These two new releases are sure to be great refreshers ahead Horizon 3 and its likely conclusion to Aloy's epic adventure.
