Ninja Theory shared a surprise announcement at today's Xbox Showcase, revealing a new one Hellblade the game is called Senua. Fixed Hellblade 2 was a beloved game that was eventually also released on the PlayStation 5, despite being published by Xbox Game Studios, there was no indication that a sequel or standalone game that Senua was underway. Interestingly, the series has changed naming conventions over its three installments, with the first game Hellblade: Senua's Sacrificethe other being Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2and now Hellblade 3 just getting called Senua.
Last year released Ninja Theory Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice as an enhanced version on PS5 for free, or the full game as part of Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 Deluxe Editionalso free. The first one Hellblade was exclusive to PlayStation, while the other game became exclusive to Xbox after Microsoft acquired Ninja Theory. Senua is now a perfect middle ground, and it works as a standalone experience.

Similar to how Hellblade 2 launched on the PlayStation 5 after initially being an Xbox exclusive, Senua released on Xbox, PC and PlayStation simultaneously. Although it is the third installment in the series, it is not accurate Hellblade 3as it was intended as a standalone title that would be a good starting point for newcomers or for veterans to return to. The official website confirms that this is not a direct sequel to Hellblade 2and previous knowledge or playthroughs of the first and second games in the series are not needed to play and enjoy Senua when it launches in 2027.

Many fans of Hellblade game asked for a more action-oriented battle, and Senua delivers on that front. It seems to have bosses, stealth games, group battles and adrenaline-pumping sequences. As the protagonist, Senua is one of the most iconic Xbox characters of all time, and seeing her in the third installment could be a huge treat for fans.

The release window for Senua is 2027, but no official date has been set yet. The game can't be pre-ordered either, but fans can wishlist it on their preferred platform. The game promises cool boss fights, weighted combat and tactical options. Hellblade 2 was one of the best games to debut on Xbox Game Pass at the time, and Senua may follow.
