GTA 6 will make $1 billion in its first hour of pre-orders, Insider predicts

A trusted insider has predicted that Grand Theft Auto 6 could make $1 billion in its upcoming pre-orders within just the first hour, and that it would be an “easy” task.

With how little Rockstar has actually shown us about GTA 6 since it was first announced, it's no surprise that we all still have a lot of questions about it, from the price to how the dual character gameplay will work. There's one thing that pretty much nobody in the world has questioned in all that time, and that's whether GTA 6 will be a success.

Even with a smaller console market than previous GTA games have had to work with, the power of both Rockstar and GTA means that Jason and Lucia's journey through Leonida is almost guaranteed to be a huge hit. Our first taste of it is sure to come when pre-orders begin in a few days, and one insider is even predicting an “easy” $1 billion in the first hour alone.

Tom Henderson believes GTA 6 will make a billion in its first hour of pre-orders

I don't even doubt it at this point

As pointed out by RockstarINTEL, Insider Gaming's editor-in-chief, Tom Henderson, recently discussed how much money Rockstar can make from GTA 6's pre-orders on the latest episode of the Insider Gaming Podcast. After highlighting GTA 6's potential to sell consoles, Henderson points out that GTA 5 was able to make $1 billion in profit in three days since its pre-orders opened.

With that number in mind, Henderson suggests that it will be “easy” for GTA 6 to make $1 billion in pre-orders in just the first hour, noting that this is more of a “cultural event” than a game launch. While it actually seems unbelievable for any game, let alone one that launches during a difficult time for the industry, GTA 6 is easily the most anticipated game of all time and basically free to do whatever it wants.

If Rockstar smartly releases Trailer 3 along with the pre-orders to get people even more excited, there's a very good chance that the momentum will propel GTA 6 to an even higher level of hype than ever before. To be fair, there have been plenty of reports over the past few years about how much money GTA 6 is likely to make, with one investment bank even suggesting 46 million copies sold on day one.

What I need to see from a Grand Theft Auto 6 Collector's Edition

Give me 19 inches of Jason and Lucia, a poster I'll look at exactly once, and a baseball cap I'm too old to wear.
