GTA 5 players find hidden reference to Lipton 12 years after release

With Grand Theft Auto 5 out for almost 13 years now and having sold over 230 million copies, you would assume that almost everything that can be found has been found. Players have found aliens, UFOs, references to Lost and Thelma and Louise, a ghost, and a mansion where everyone you touch dies.

However, it turns out there was still at least one more thing to discover: a faulty bottle cap from a well-known brand of tea and soda.

Someone just found a Lipton bottle cap in Grand Theft Auto 5

Trevor wears a tuxedo and looks distressed in gta 5.

Lipton is a British beverage manufacturer. It makes a range of tea bags and bottled iced teas in different flavours. The last place you'd expect it to appear is GTA 5. But it has.

Shared on Reddit by user chopopoulos, among a pile of rotting garbage is a bottle cap for a Lipton product, presumably one of its iced teas.

“While exploring Los Santos today, I came across something that really surprised me. We all know that GTA 5 is known for its parody brands and fictitious companies that imitate real products without actually using their names. It's one of the things that makes the game world feel unique. But during my gameplay, I noticed what appeared to be a real Lipton logo in the game. So I stopped, looked closer and took this screenshot,” they said.

Now, this is in all likelihood part of an asset pack that the team at Rockstar accidentally missed, but it's still fun to see. It's similar to the time players found a Heineken beer in Dark Souls 2.

Today has been a big day for GTA fans, with Rockstar releasing pre-order and pricing information for GTA 6. It has been revealed that pre-orders will start at midnight, the game will cost $80, works best on PS5 and PS5 Pro, and some content is locked behind the more expensive Ultimate Edition.
