Genshin Impact has officially revealed that the upcoming Special Program event for version 5.4 will take place on January 24th, starting at 7:00 AM (UTC-5). Since the official release back in 2020, Genshin Impact has followed a pattern of hosting a livestream event that reveals most of the upcoming content, including new characters, regions, and weapons.
Developer HoYoverse has already confirmed that the upcoming update will include a new five-star character, the long-awaited Yumizuki Mizuki. This Inazuma character has been mentioned in many leaks over the past few months, and it seems that she will finally join the roster in the next update.

Although the second part of Genshin Impact Version 5.3 arrived just a couple of days ago, HoYoverse has already started its announcements for the next update. According to the latest announcement, the Special Program for Genshin Impact Version 5.4 will be retained January 24 at 07:00 (UTC-5). Many fans seem surprised by such an early livestream date, considering that it usually comes around 10 days before the update officially launches. But the main reason is probably the upcoming Lunar New Year weekend. The official art used for this special program announcement features the new Five Star character Mizuki, once again confirming her involvement in the upcoming storyline.
Genshin Impact 5.4: Special Program Date and Time
Mizuki has been confirmed as an Inazuma character, meaning the story will most likely move from Natlan and return to Electro nation. This doesn't come as a huge surprise considering the HoYoverse usually takes a break from the main region arc around this time of year. The second part of the ongoing version 5.3 takes players back to the fan-favorite Liyue region, which always hosts Genshin Impact's Lantern Rite Festival.
When it comes to character releases in the upcoming Genshin Impact update 5.4, the fact that Mizuki has been the only announced character so far indicates that there won't be any more roster additions. This also means there should be three banner re-runs in 5.4 and recently Genshin Impact leaks have already hinted that Fontaine's Cryo user Wriothesley will finally get his first re-run after his release back in update 4.1.
Rumors claim that the update will also include two Hydro characters: Lady Furina and Sigewinne. It appears that HoYoverse will continue its pattern of one Archon in each update after a new region arrives. However, many fans still seem surprised that Furina will be joined by Sigewinne, given that they appeared together during Genshin Impact Version 4.7. These banner rumors should still be taken with a grain of salt, and players will get more official confirmation in the upcoming live stream event.
