Gege teases who Yuji ends up with

Jujutsu Kaisen's the final volume is officially out and with it, fans got a new epilogue chapter that only added to the already established ending of the series. It's safe to say that JJK's the epilogue chapter was incredibly exciting as fans saw the spotlight turn on the likes of Panda, Nobara, Sukuna, Uraume, and last but not least, the protagonist of the story, Yuji Itadori. For fans expecting a glimpse of Yuji in battle after the war, this wasn't such a good chapter.

But for those readers who wanted Yuji's romantic relationships to develop, this was truly huge. This chapter gave fans a glimpse of Yuji's potential partner, and while nothing definitive was revealed by the author, the hints were right in their faces.

Throughout the course of JJKfans did not see that Yuji Itadori had any romantic partners. This shouldn't come as a surprise to fans, as the story actually takes place over a very short period of time. In the world of JJKnot even a year has passed since the beginning of the story, and as such not many relationships change in this short period of time. When you consider how turbulent these times were, it becomes especially impossible for these characters to develop their personal relationships. As such, Yuji, who was single at the beginning of JJK, continued to be so until the end.

Do you still like snow, Itadori-kun? – Ozawa

While Yuji was without any romantic partner JJK for the vast majority of the story, that certainly doesn't mean the author didn't imply things. As expected, the writer dropped some hints about Yuji and Nobara being romantic partners, which was there just for the sake of it. It was made clear in the story on many occasions that there was absolutely nothing between these two characters, and most fans interpret the relationship as a sibling-like bond, for the most part. You could say that Yuji and Megumi also had an interesting relationship, but again, at the end of things, this relationship was portrayed as more brotherly than anything else.

There is only one character that Yuji was drawn into by Gege when it comes to a romantic subplot, and that is Ozawa. For the fans who don't remember, Ozawa was one of Yuji's schoolmates who he really enjoyed hanging out with. She was always in love with him, and he was one of the few who was actually kind to her. Ozawa returned inside JJK at a later point, and while she intended to confess her feelings to him, it never happened. Much to the surprise of fans, Ozawa returned in JJK's epilogue, once again getting the chance to hang out with Yuji Itadori.

JJK'S epilogue opened up with Ozawa, which was a surprise to fans. She was back in her hometown and after spending many years there with a completely different physical appearance, she was seen frustrated by the fact that no one would ever continue to recognize her. In a way, Ozawa was frustrated by how shallow people can be, but her bubble burst when Yuji Itadori appeared in front of her and recognized her instantly. Although Yuji's presence was a surprise to her, the fact that he recognized her certainly wasn't. This is simply because Yuji is a very observant character, and at the same time not superficial at all.

Yuji even mentioned his interest in her long ago when he was in school. For Yuji to recognize Ozawa immediately wasn't shocking at all. For Ozawa, however, this was a moment that confused her. But at the same time, she realized that this was her chance to rekindle a relationship with Yuji after their time in high school.

Yuji is about to grow up! – Megumi and Nobara

Since Yuji was there to clean up old business after his grandfather's death, this was the perfect time for him to see her often and build a solid relationship. The author cleverly uses the metaphor of liking snow here. At the very beginning of the chapter, fans were treated to a flashback where both Yuji and Ozawa are seen observing the snow. Both admit that they love snow, and the fact that they share this moment together really gives it a special meaning. In the epilogue, Ozawa asks Yuji if he likes snow still, to which he replies that he absolutely does. For Ozawa, this is basically a big test, as she wants to see if Yuji still likes hanging out with her, just like they did when they watched snow as kids, or not. Thankfully for her, Yuji's response is positive, and from here on out a positive relationship between these two characters can be built.

At the end of JJK's epilogue, fans didn't get to see much of Yuji and Ozawa, as there were other characters who took the spotlight. Yuji and Ozawa only got to speak for a short period of time, and it is unclear exactly what happened to them after this conversation. Considering that Yuji was there for quite some time, it's possible that they ended up talking a lot more and became closer. But whether or not Yuji and Ozawa then moved on remains to be seen. The fans know nothing about this development in the story. You could say that Yuji and Ozawa's relationship was left ambiguous by the author, and this was likely done on purpose to keep them on the edge of their seats.

That said, the fact that Ozawa was re-introduced in the epilogue and her feelings for Yuji were brought up once more certainly lends more weight to the idea that they might have ended up together a few years later. Fans were treated to a 62-year time jump, but unfortunately no hint was given as to what happened to Yuji and Ozawa. It is quite possible that they ended up getting married and had children and possibly grandchildren. But currently there is absolutely no confirmation. All that fans can take away from the epilogue is that their relationship came back into focus, and they developed it to a degree.

Whether they stopped dating after or not is something that cannot be said for sure. But what can be said is that the author really hinted at it a lot, because otherwise the epilogue would be there to serve absolutely no purpose at all.

Jujutsu Kaisen's epilogue was released with its final volume. JJK's final volume will be released in Japan on December 25, 2024. The English version of the Volume will be published sometime in 2025.
