How to find Distortion Breach Chest in Destiny 2
To open the Distortion Breach chest, you must first find the Distortion. Open the Director and look for the destination that has a red icon next to it and the text that reads “Distortions corrupt the area.“ Warps change every hour or so, so check the time to see when it goes so you know which planet to go to next.
After landing on the Distortion planet, you need to look for a public event. You just need complete the public event as normalso don't worry about making it heroic. Once that's done, you'll have about 40 seconds before another public event starts in the same area, except this one has the red distortion symbol.
How to complete the Distortion Breach in Destiny 2
Distortion Breaches are unique public events, and they require you to defeat 9 Waves of Distorted combatants. With a few waves, you will be tasked with destroying”concentrations of corruption to calm the flood“. To do this, look around the area for destructible objects that you can shoot.
When the time limit expires, or you've beaten all 9 waves, a Distortion Breach Chest will spawnand you can open it to receive Strange Matter and Strange Multiplier buff.
How to Collect Strange Matter in Destiny 2
Strange Matter can only be collected on the currently warped planet. You can obtain Strange Matter by opening chests and collecting resources found in each destinationand you can get even more Strange Matter if you collect these while you have the Strange Multiplier buffwhich you get for completing a Distortion Breach. When you have 50, the strange matter will automatically convert into the strange signal.
How to find where the strange signal leads in Destiny 2
Once you have the strange signal, you need to find where it leads. To find out where the strange signal is going, open the director and look for the distortion. On the map in the warped area you will see a waypoint that you can follow that will lead you to the strange signal.
By following Strange Signal's waypoint you will encounter warped enemies, and once you kill them you can collect the loot, which will have some extra loot for you to collect, and complete the mission.
You can repeat this process to get 50 Strange Matter, then a Strange Signal, and it will result in more loot. However, there is no quest associated with these, and it's just an activity you can do with Distortions.
