During Tokyo Game Show 2024, Final Fantasy producer and director Naoki Yoshida said the franchise is collaborating with its creator, Hironobu Sakaguchi, to provide more music to Fantastic Neo Dimension. After Sakaguchi's departure from Square Enix in 2004, he formed an independent studio based in Honolulu called Mistwalker and released Blue dragon and Lost Odyssey on the Xbox 360. After that, Mistwalker focused on developing games like Terra Battle for mobile platforms. Fantastic was originally released in two parts in 2021 on the Apple Arcade subscription service for iOS devices. Fantastics turn-based combat system included a lane mechanic that could turn the tide of a fight. Three years later, Mistwalker announced a partnership with Square Enix Creative Studio 3 to bring Fantastic to multiple platforms, with the subtitle Neo Dimension is added to differentiate the upcoming port from the original release.
Although Sakaguchi once decided not to work with Square Enix after his departure, a new collaboration between Final Fantasy franchise and its creators are on their way. During Tokyo Game Show 2024, Yoshida took the stage alongside Sakaguchi and legendary video game composer Nobuo Uematsu. Via a transcript by Twitter user Genki_JPN, Yoshida confirmed it Final Fantasy battle themes would be included Fantastic Neo Dimensionhowever, a track list was not revealed at the time of writing.
