Fallout 3 fans think they've figured out the remaster's release date

Fallout fans believe that a Fallout 76 expansion that acts as a prequel to Fallout 3 could give us a good idea of when to expect Fallout 3 Remastered.

For some time now, Fallout fans have been asking Bethesda to do something with the series that is not tied to Fallout 76, the Amazon series, or Fallout Shelter. That wish will finally be granted in the near future, as Bethesda recently announced a ton of new projects currently in the works, from a new Obsidian game to the eventual Fallout 5.

One of the most interesting (and actually feasible) things that Bethesda announced was remasters of both Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas, which have been rumored to be a thing for a long time now. Unfortunately, we were given no idea when to expect either remaster, leaving fans to do their best to find out.

Fallout fans believe that 3 remastered could launch around a 76 expansion

Looks like we'll be waiting until next year

Considering how long we've been hearing about the Fallout 3 and New Vegas remasters, many fans assumed they weren't too far off and had a decent chance of launching this year. Bethesda's announcement toned it down a bit, suggesting they could be out longer, leaving fans guessing as to when they might appear.

On Twitter, Kevduit pointed out an interesting detail in Bethesda's statement that might give us a good idea of when we can expect the Fallout 3 remaster. While talking about the “Future of Fallout,” Bethesda notes that it has a new Fallout 76 expansion planned for 2027 that will serve as a “prequel story” to Fallout 3.

With that prequel story confirmed for 2027, it would only make sense for Fallout 3 Remastered to launch alongside it. This means that Fallout 3 Remastered will very likely launch in 2027, as Bethesda will likely want some synergy between the two stories told in the Capital Wasteland.

That leaves just the New Vegas remaster, which could be aiming for release sometime in 2028. It's highly unlikely that Bethesda will have both release in the same year, and the release of a remaster of Obsidian's beloved entry could very well be used to hype up the confirmed Fallout game, something that doesn't make sense to do until 2008.
