Nintendo Switch 2 users can get a special edition Resident Evil Requiem Pro Controller when the game launches in 2026, but it won't be cheap. The Resident Evil franchise has close ties with Nintendo, with the beloved RE4 was originally released as a GameCube exclusive and gets its own limited controller for that system. While Resident Evil Requiem won't be exclusive to the Switch 2, it will get unique and expensive hardware for the console.
Nintendo's latest console has faced its fair share of criticism over its pricing, but this hasn't stopped it from being a huge success. By September 2025, the Switch 2 had sold over 2 million units in Japan alone and over 7 million globally. A strong slate of upcoming games could help push those numbers even further, but some of Nintendo's connections to those games could leave fans with a bit of sticker shock.
Resident Evil Requiem is getting a $100 Switch 2 Pro Controller
Nintendo and Capcom have presented a special edition Resident Evil Requiem Pro Controller for $99.99, and pre-orders have already opened. The regulator comes out on February 27, 2026, the same day as Requiem and two others Resident Evil titles are coming to the Switch 2, but it's already sold out on Nintendo's US website, despite its high price. Fans in other countries may still be able to pre-order it through Nintendo, and at the time of writing US pre-orders are still available at Best Buy.
The Requiem The Pro Controller is far from the most expensive gamepad on the market today. Still, it may surprise some fans, considering how Nintendo already raised the price of the Switch 2 Pro Controller before the system even came out, as a response to changing market conditions. The Vanilla Pro Controller currently costs $89.99 on the My Nintendo Store, which is already more expensive than the PS5's DualSense and Xbox Wireless Controller.
Later in 2026, Resident Evil Requiem will also get some Amiibos, although Capcom and Nintendo haven't revealed their final designs. It's worth noting that Amiibos have also become more expensive during the Switch 2 era, but it's also unclear how much exactly Requiem such will cost. These will be released sometime in the summer of 2026, so fans should stay tuned in the coming months for more news on what to expect from them.
