Epic gives away free games through its online store year-round, but it kicks things off during the holidays. Instead of giving away a game or two a week, during the 2023 holiday season, Epic gave away a total of 17 matches. It kicked off its holiday event with a week-long giveaway and then went on to offer a free game every day for a period that spanned more than two weeks.

Each game will come to PS Plus Essential, Extra and Premium in December 2024
Each game added to Essential, Extra and Premium and the dates you will be able to play them for free.
It appears to be doing something similar this year, and we'll be rounding up every game Epic is giving away for free during the 2024 holidays here below. That way, not only do you have somewhere to go to find out which game is free at any given time, but you can also check out what you've missed and note when the next free game will be revealed and available.
December 22 – 23: Wizard Of Legend
Wizard of legend
Wizard of Legend is a fast-paced dungeon crawler with villainous elements that emphasize dynamic magical combat. Fast movements and even faster spell usage allow you to string together spells to unleash devastating combos on your enemies!
Wizard Of Legend has arrived to bring some old fashioned pixel roguelike fun to Epic's ongoing holiday giveaway. Like all the games – apart from Return To Moria – that have come before it, Wizard Of Legend is free to claim for 24 hours, but once claimed it's yours to keep. Rise through ten stories of challenges and enemies in this amazing top-down roguelike, learning new spells and skills every time you reach a new level. It's one of those games that makes you say “One more round” and before you know it, it's Christmas morning and everyone is heading downstairs to start the festivities.
Wizard Of Legend will be available to claim for free until 11:00 AM EST on Monday, December 23, 2024, when it will be replaced by the next free game in Epic's Holiday Giveaway.
December 21 – 22: TerraTech
TerraTech
TerraTech is an open world sandbox adventure game where you design and build your own creations through a mix of crafting, combat and exploration. Design cars, tanks and planes from a huge library of blocks. Scavenge, craft and buy new parts to survive and become the ultimate planetary explorer.
On the fourth day of giveaways, Epic games to me – TerraTech. Of all the games given away so far this year, TerraTech is the game most likely to occupy all your free time this Christmas season. Set in an open world sandbox where you build your stuff and strike out. Even the vehicles you use are custom built from the game's blocks. Make your way around its huge world, crafting as you go and engaging in fights with others you come across. A game that will keep you busy for hours if you let it, and if you get it now, it's free.
December 20 – 21: Astrea: Six-sided Oracles
Astrea: Six-sided Oracles
Astrea is a DICE deck building roguelike that flips the script on deck builders by using dice instead of cards and a unique dual “damage” system: Purification vs Corruption. Build a dice pool strong enough to purge Astrea's out-of-control corruption and save the Star System.
Day three of Epic's holiday giveaway and deck builders rejoice because today is your day. Astrea: Six-Sided Oracles is today's free game and all you have to do to pick up, download and try it out is to go to the store page via the link in the box above. While it is a deck builder, Astrea turns the genre on its head by replacing cards with dice. Help protagonist Astrea fight against her own corruption by making the dice fall in your favor to cleanse them and save the star system they call home.
December 19 – 20: Vampire Survivor
One of the hottest games of 2022, Vampire Survivors puts you in a fight for survival against hordes of enemies. A villainous shoot 'em up, it has won a number of awards, including Best Game at the 2023 BAFTAs.
Return to Moria is out, Vampire Survivors is in. One of the biggest and most popular indie hits of the last decade, Vampire Survivors is a two-dimensional roguelite that has you take on wave after wave of the undead. You will eventually give in to them, but that's okay. Since this is a roguelite, you'll only come back stronger and with more tools at your disposal. If you've managed to go until now without trying this simple but endlessly fun game, luckily, as of the next 24 hours, you can download it for free and then keep it forever.
December 12 – 19: The Lord of the Rings: Return To Moria
The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria is a game focused on survival and crafting. Set after the events of the books, you are tasked with reclaiming the procedurally generated kingdom of Moria.
Just like 2023, Epic has kicked off its big Christmas present with a game available for a whole week rather than 24 hours like most of the games that will follow it. Destiny 2 started the festivities last year, and this year it is The Lord of the Rings returns to Moria that gets us started. Pairs well with War Of Rohirrim in theaters, and those who loved the movie can make this holiday season Lord of the Rings themed by picking up Return To Moria for free. You can also watch all three of the original trilogy extended clips because, well, you really should at least once a year and time is almost up.
