Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will return to an Early Access campaign for players who are particularly keen to see how the story continues. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will launch on October 23, and it is already known that the game will have all the amenities that players have come to expect from COD sub-franchise, such as the classic PvP multiplayer mode, and a heavily upgraded PvPvE DMZ.
The contemporary COD titles now have a very well-established pre-release setting, to the point that almost anyone familiar with any of the previous recent Call of Duty games knows what goodies to expect from this one too. Modern Warfare 4The pre-order features are centered around the special Vault Edition, which comes pre-loaded with extra weapon blueprints, operator skins and other assorted goodies for a hefty price. For those who only want to play the single-player portion of the game, however, these will be largely irrelevant.

Call of Duty 2026 is reportedly coming to a surprising platform
The Call of Duty franchise's big 2026 release may see a full launch on an unexpected platform, according to the latest leaks about the game.
Modern Warfare 4's campaign mode is playable early for most players
Early access to campaigns is one of those things that definitely doesn't change Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4compared to the last two Call of Duty titles. The campaign will be available a bit earlier than the rest of the game's content, due to launch on October 16th as opposed to the full title's release on October 23rd. Crucially, players must have pre-ordered the Standard Digital or Vault Edition to gain early access to the campaign, with multiplayer modes that Modern Warfare 4s upgraded DMZ comes as part of the standard launch day package.

There is a point to be made that the Korea-focused single player campaign is Modern Warfare 4s most exciting feature to begin with, making the Early Access campaign a particularly interesting deal. This will be the first time as a main line COD the game has tackled the subject, and while it will obviously be shrouded in the superhero-adjacent vibes the franchise is known for, it should provide an exciting change of pace regardless.
The conflict in South and North Korea also provides a solid excuse to build out a brand new PvPvE mode. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4s DMZ promises to deliver a full game-within-a-game with free-roam and spec-ops style missions along with full-fledged story missions to take part in. COD Campaigns are usually quite short, DMZ may well be the next best option for those who simply aren't up for the usual run 'n' gun madness that players expect from the standard PvP multiplayer modes.

In fact, one could argue that the upgraded DMZ is actually a second chance for a sandbox-focused Modern Warfare 3-style side campaign. Modern Warfare 3s campaign was not good especially because it used Modern Warfare 2s DMZ to flesh out a campaign mode with very few custom heavy missions outside of the open world sandbox. As Modern Warfare 4 has a full-fledged game ball campaign by default, this could be an easy way to lay out the game more for those who want co-op and long-term development.
