Dragon Age Veteran speaks of EA's attitude to RPG -Design

Dragon Age: Inquisition Leading writers and former Bioware veteran David Gaider has talked about how EA approached RPG design during his time with the company. As the main author on the original Dragon Age: Originsits sequel in 2011 and Dragon Age: InquisitionGaider worked on the franchise for a long time, but did not always agree with EA's strategy.

The emergence of Dragon Age: Origins 2009 was huge, another critical and commercial hit for Bioware to have under his belt at that time. It's actually so good Dragon Age: Origins Is still well worth playing in 2025, although later iterations in the series have not really been so well received. It is proof of the quality of the first title that interest in the newer titles is still so high, despite the more mixed reception from the fans.

A former main author at Bioware explains how the team behind the studio's two major franchises worked largely separately and did not agree.

Talk to GameRadar+, Dragon age Series veteran David Gaider claimed that he “always tried to drive it to our traditional mechanics. And it was not very welcome on the EA sphere”, with EA given the types of mechanics “slow and difficult.” He believed that his views “were often not very welcome”, despite his status as a veteran who had a big hand to create one of the best Bioware series so far.

You did an RPG and the nerds in the cave would always show up for an RPG, as it was an RPG.

With Dragon Age: Veilguard Sub -performance is not really clear what the future has for the series at the moment. Bioware is currently working on the next Mass effect Games, so it may be something for the developer to go through after the next iteration of his main sci-fi franchise. There is obviously still a lot of potential in Dragon age IP, even if Veilguard Unable to meet EA's expectations.
