Donkey Kong Bananza was surprised by DLC during last week's Nintendo Direct, and despite the first warm reception it received, its naked leg nature has thrown a shadow over what has otherwise been a largely celebrated game. But like it or not, it seems to have the desired effect, because Bananza is back on top of Switch 2 Eshop diagram.
Bananza briefly released the list of Switch 2's best sellers thanks to the arrival of Hollow Knight: Silksong, which first marked a game that was not published by Nintendo had topped the chart since Switch 2's arrival. However, the addition of DLC and making it available directly has quickly put Nintendo's latest Donkey Kong game back on top.
For a DLC people have noticed bare bones, it certainly sells well
The rankings shared by stealth40K not only show that Bananza is back in pole position after the shadow case, but the DK game is technical to occupy two positions in the top ten. While the base game is number one, the bundle that combines both the $ 70 game and its $ 20 DK Island & Emerald Isle is number seven.
Yes, that means type of bananza is a $ 90 game now, and yes, as shocking as it may seem, its diagram position shows that people are willing to pay it.
Banaza's DLC takes you to DK Island for what is effective is a new roguelike mode. Void Kong is recruiting you and Pauline to think about the island for emeralds, your goal is to gather as many as possible within a certain time. There are upgrades to unlock and buffs that exist, and although it may have seemed as if there was more in the revealing trailer, it really is pretty much everything there is.
Despite the limited extra content, Nintendo $ 19.99 for DLC, a decision that has been severely criticized by Bananza fans because they have discovered how little it adds the game. The fact that DLC dropped a week after Silksong, which offers a whole game that may end up winning 2025's game for the same prize, has really not helped its cause.
Kirby and the forgotten country get a much more expansive $ 20 DLC less than a month ago really shines a light on how little you get in Bananza expansion. Although it has clearly not deterred as many people as you can expect from buying it, just because Bananza has topped the diagram again, it does not mean that it is outselling silksong and other Switch 2 games when it comes to devices. Diagram positions are based on dollar sales, not sold units, which means you map higher than Bananza + DLC package, Silksong has to sell four and a half copies for each of these bundles to map higher, so it is actually quite impressive that the hot new indie game is still others.
