Winter 2025 contains Dr. Ameku Takao's Detective Karte, the exciting SECOND medical anime coming out this season that is definitely worth watching.

The the fourth episode has been delayed for a week and will not premiere on January 22, 2025. It seems that this delay was planned in advance, as what will air instead of the episode is a special featuring Ayane Sakura (who plays Ameku). It is not confirmed if this special will also be released on Crunchyroll.

What is Ameku MD: Doctor Detective?

This series is originally a novel written by Mikito Chinen and illustrated by Noizi Ito (character designer for Shakugan no Shana and also one of the artists who worked in Sakura War). It is published by Shinchosa in Japan, but it has not been licensed in the United States. It has spawned two manga and now an anime.

The story focuses on Ameku Takao, head of the Department of Investigative Pathology at a general hospital. Her department is needed when others cannot diagnose a patient. Because of her job, she is often involved in mysterious deaths and murders, and she loves solving these mysteries. This could be a good show for Dr. House fans.

Dr. Takao Ameku is the brilliant yet eccentric head of investigative pathology at Tenikai General Hospital, responsible for diagnosing patients that the other hospital departments cannot. But thanks to her love of solving mysteries, Takao also becomes involved in mysterious deaths and murders, while dragging her assistant Yu Takanashi along in her various adventures.

Ameku Takao Main Anime Staff

Studio Project No. 9 (Senpai is an Otokonoko, The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten) handles the series' animation. Kazuya Iwata is responsible for directing — he previously directed the underrated Love for world domination. Satoru Sugizawa (My little Senpai) and Yuuko Kakihara (Dragon Ball Daima) are the main writers — Sugizawa has worked for many other Project No. 9 series. Fox Capture Plan composes the music.
