Blizzard shares Diablo 4's 2025 roadmap and reveals what content and features will be added to the game in the coming months.
In an extensive blog post, Blizzard revealed several season 9 features, with one of the highlights such as the new seasonal assignment line called “The Embers yet Smolder” which takes players to Cerrigar. Here, players will meet new NPCs who send them on task to discover and clear blood relics that have fallen into demonic hands. It is worth noting that in order to access this new line of assignment, players must first complete Diablo 4The base game campaign and create a new character on the realm of the season.

Another important function that comes in Diablo 4Season 9: Sins of the Horadrim is a new way to combine magic formulas through three important pillars: catalysts, infusions and Arcana. Horadric magic formulas can be linked to the player's ability to create explosive combination attacks, which allows them to experiment and come up with their own combinations. In addition, players can now create horadric jewels that use Horadric Tea's – which may appear as rewards from completed strong rooms after reaching a torment 1. These gems give new effects and forces, or improve horadric magic formulas to make them more powerful.
In addition, players can now explore Horadric Strongrooms, which the developer describes as micro-prison holes hidden within Diablo 4S Nightmare Dungeons. Here, players will meet new enemies and earn valuable rewards. Season 9 will also introduce a new endgame challenge called Escalating Nightmares, where players will meet Astaroth and Amalgam again – even though this time the managers will contain new attack combinations.
From Season 9, several major updates of Nightmare Dungeons will become permanent features for all players – even after the season. These include renovated dungeon mechanics, horadric strong rooms, escalating difficulty chains and more. The patch will also include new unique items to earn, as well as new equipment, armor, accessories, brackets and Mount Armor bundles in the store, among many more exciting additions that come for all players on July 1.
