CD Projekt Red raises Cyberpunk 2077 minimum PC system requirements once again, this time to end support for Windows 10. Players who cannot upgrade to the latest version of Microsoft's operating system still have several options if they want to continue playing Cyberpunk 2077 on Windows 10.
CDPR previously raised the minimum system requirements for its open-world RPG on two occasions: in February 2022 and September 2023. The former change dropped support for Windows 7, while the latter involved a more extensive overhaul affecting storage, RAM, CPU and VRAM hardware requirements for Cyberpunk 2077.

The newly confirmed change creates an unusual situation, potentially leaving millions of devices that meet the minimum and even recommended hardware requirements for Cyberpunk 2077 unable to run it because their hardware is incompatible with Windows 11. The scenario largely stems from Microsoft's latest operating system having strict requirements for supported processors, requiring the inclusion of the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 2.0 security microchip and Secure Boot. Many high-end computers built in the late 2010s and early 2020s will fail this check.
PC gamers meeting Cyberpunk 2077s original system requirements but unable to upgrade their machines to Windows 11 have two options going forward: downgrade to an older game version or take no action and hope future versions continue to run. CDPR did not directly state that future versions of RPG will not work on Windows 10, only that it will no longer test them on the now defunct operating system. An identical provision was attached to the minimum system requirements for The Witcher 3which was also revised after the announcement on May 27 of Songs from the past expansion.

Since 2023, CDPR has repeatedly signaled that it was done with the update Cyberpunk 2077only to later change course. The latest change to the game's minimum requirements suggests that the studio may be preparing to do it again. While making Windows 11 mandatory could lock millions of players out of the game, the requirement itself isn't particularly surprising at a time when Windows 10 hasn't been the dominant operating system for nearly a year.
