While Crimson Desert's launch was decidedly mixed, the work Pearl Abyss has done since then deserves nothing but praise. The company is way ahead of schedule when it comes to promised updates, and much of the work it does is unplanned and based entirely on player feedback.
Updates have been regularly pushed out, refining existing features and adding new ones, creating a much better experience for players. This has seen its Steam reviews steadily climb from “Mixed” to “Mostly Positive” and now to “Very Positive”, with 86 percent of reviews now glowing.
One of the biggest early complaints about Crimson Desert was the fact that players couldn't tame and keep any mounts they found on their adventures. However, that has changed now, with update v1.06.00 adding the ability to register 12 new mounts, along with a host of new features.
Crimson Desert 1.06.00 Adds 12 new special mounts
Not long after Crimson Desert launched, players were upset about the inability to register new mounts. Pearl Abyss quickly corrected that, adding five a few weeks after launch. They included White Bear, Silver Fang, Snowwhite Deer, Rock Tusk Warthog and Icicle Edge Alpine Ibex.
Now, as part of the game's latest update, there are 12 more special mounts available. They are as follows:
-
Bears
-
Boars
-
Wolves
-
Deer
-
Mountain goats
-
Kuku birds
-
Iguanas
-
Birds of prey
-
Camels
-
Lions
-
Tigers
The update removes saddles from the standard appearance of the mounts, making them equipped, with saddles for each of the new mounts available for purchase at the following locations:
-
Hernand Saddlery – Saddles for wolves and bears
-
Equinsher saddlery – saddles for deer and wolves
-
Calphade saddlery – saddles for bears and cuckoos
-
Demeniss saddlery – saddles for cuckoos and deer
-
Pailune Saddlery – Saddles for bears and ibex
-
Delesyia sadelmakeri – saddles for warthogs
-
Tommaso Sadelmakeri – Saddles for iguanas
-
Varnia sadelmakeri – saddles for camels
A great selection.
There are also tons of other changes as part of the new update
Alongside the new mounts, Pearl Abyss has added an extraction feature that “allows you to recycle materials used to refine gear.” This allows recycling some of the materials you previously used to refine weapons and armor.
Players can also use new unarmed combat skills with Oongka, display sheaths for their swords, and collect the “Sigil of Wallpaper”, which, when equipped, causes pet dogs to attack enemies.
You can now also play a claw machine on the laughing puppet (because of course you can). This claw machine has a range of rewards, including 12 types of lighting items, 1 type of chair, 1 type of special headgear, Abyss Artifacts and Abyss Gears.
These major changes are accompanied by more than 70 changes to the user interface, graphics, localization, controls, and content. You can check them all out here. Keep it up, Pearl Abyss.
