Duskbloods is a multiplayer game. Not multiplayer in the way most from Software games are multiplayer, which facilitates friends and randos that let in and out to help with Bosskamp. No, it is Multiple players Multiplayer.
FROMSoft doubles down
If you saw the revealing trailer on Nintendo Switch 2 directly, it may come as a surprise. The first look dropped by the atmosphere when it showed players who navigated in a dark, Gothic world that looked more than a bit like blood cage. Some images suggested that both co-op and competitive multiplayer can get into the game, but it did not give the impression that it was primarily Multiplayer.

Sorry Playstation -Fans, the blood -borne successor is a Switch 2 exclusive
Duskblods looks a lot like blood -borne, but the trailer reveals some large wrinkles.
Certainly not in the way the fire ring Nightreign's reveals trailer. When FRASSoftware announced its upcoming multiplayer-spin-off at Game Awards, it did so with a trailer like front loaded multiplayer elements. There were lots of pictures of players who collaborated to meet the Big Boss monster. Add a purple energy wall that is closed around the playroom and it was immediately clear that this was a game you are playing with friends.
Not so for Duskbloods, and Frägsoft may have soft pedaled that information because of how close it follows the release of Nightreign.
The fire ring-spin-off will be released next month, and Duskbloods will follow 2026.
The souls fans who come to these games for intricate level design, moody environments, suffocating atmosphere and surrounding stories are not satisfied with FROMSoftware serving two multiplayer-focused games in a row. Add to that Duskbloods looked very much like Bloodborne, and some feel that FROMSoftware has got their hopes, the way up for nothing.
FROMSoftware works too fast for this much doubt
And if this was Rockstar or Naughty Dog or Bethesda, I would understand the disappointment. If your favorite developer posts a game a consolentation, it may be a bummer when they spend that time on something you are not at a distance. If, instead of the GTA 6 trailer, I had lost a first look at Rockstar Games presents Table Tennis 2, I would be a little annoyed, that I should give you.
But from Software is not like Rockstar or Naughty Dog or Bethesda. It posts a new game every year or two. Elden Ring: Nightreign marks the seventh full game as it has been dropped over the past decade, and it does not include remaster like Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin or Expansions Like Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erree, which is longer than many independent games. There are nine experiences at full length in ten years. In the Triple-A space, only Ryu Ga Gotoku works faster.

From now on every game will be a little fire -ring
It has been claimed that intergalactic: the herethern Prophet will draw inspiration from the fire ring, and it will not be the last.
I understand that. I mainly go to Frommare games for experiences of a player, so Nightreign is not for me and Duskbloods may not either my cup of tea. But I don't see any reason to expect this to be a permanent direction for the frontstware. After all, the studio only had its biggest hit ever with the fire ring, one largely single-player game, then followed it up (just last year, it's worth remembering) with a gigantic piece of single-player-focused DLC. Its two TGA GOTY winnings are both for single-player-focused game-in Sekiro's case, exclusive single player.
FROMSoftware makes two multiplayer games in a row, safe. But it is no reason to forget that most of their games because it broke into mainstream with Dark Souls has mainly been a single player. Two is a repetition, but it is not a trend. If it announces a third multiplayer game, it may be time to worry. Until then, we can wait a little longer for a single player's follow -up. It will probably still come before the next from Naughty Dog.

Ten years later Bloodborne is still the best game from Software ever made
Yep, Bloodborne is better than the fire ring.
