Change version of game with “highly positive” reviews delayed indefinitely

Publisher They Awesome Guys has announced Valley Peaksa game released on Steam to “very positive” reviews, has had its upcoming Nintendo Switch port delayed indefinitely. Valley Peaks first announced as part of Nintendo's April 2024 Indie World Showcase, it was expected to come to both PC via Steam and the Nintendo Switch platform. While the indie game was released on Steam in June, fans are looking forward to the Switch version of Valley Peaks will wait indefinitely.

Valley Peaks is a first-person platform game developed by Tub Club and published by These Awesome Guys, the latter publishing e.g. Move or die and Monster ball. Valley Peaks is a cozy platformer that tasks the player with climbing various mountains in the game, each serving as its own puzzle for the player to solve and place a radio tower on top. Many challenges come from various obstacles such as crumbling rocks, spikes and wheelbarrows, all done in a whimsical art style. All these aspects have earned the game good reviews on Steam, sitting comfortably with a “very positive” rating on the platform.

The Nintendo Switch 2 and its dock may have no problem standing out visually from its predecessors, according to some recent rumors.

While the Steam version is already out, These Awesome Guys released a statement regarding the Nintendo Switch version that was promised at Nintendo's Indie World showcase in April 2024. According to a tweet posted on These Awesome Guys' Twitter account, the publisher has been facing “tough times” throughout 2024, and it must shift its focus internally. These Awesome Guys announced with great sadness that the Nintendo Switch version of Valley Peaks has been set indefinitely.

Valley Peaks Switch Version Turn on “Indefinite” Hold

While Valley Peaks' The Switch port has been put on hold indefinitely, the publisher is still exploring options to make it happen. Although These Awesome Guys are still looking into possible avenues to bring the game to the Switch, fans of cozy games on the Nintendo Switch should temper their expectations of it coming to the platform.

While Valley Peaks isn't coming to the Nintendo Switch platform any time soon, there are still a number of cool indie games set to release on the platform this year.
