Battlefield 6: DMR Tier List

DMRs (or Designated Marksman Rifles) sit firmly between assault rifles and sniper rifles Battlefield 6. They don't have the one-shot potential of bolt-action rifles, nor are they capable of fully automatic fire like ARs. But a skilled marksman can absolutely decimate the enemy from a relatively safe distance, and they can even counter enemy snipers if they can position them outside of them.

Although DMRs are not as popular as the rest of the guns in the BF6they're still worth picking up if you want to lean heavily on a playstyle that relies on positioning and accurate aiming. In this guide, we rank all the DMRs in the game based on how well they perform in different scenarios.

Whether you lay down and cover fire or clear rooms with a hail of bullets, there's sure to be an LMG in BF6 to suit your playstyle.

Updated May 24, 2026 by Marc Santos: The DMR weapon class in BF6 has remained largely the same over the seasons, but with the advent of Season 3 we thought it was high time to revisit this list and put it in context with the game's current atmosphere regarding weapon balance, especially now that maps at both ends of the size scale are available.

Best DMR in BF6

  1. SVK 8.6
  2. M39 EMR
  3. SVDM
  4. BRT-CPS
  5. LMR27

The SVK 8.6 is our top choice for this weapon category because of its ability to take down players with just two hits to the body. It rewards players who can hit their shots, and it's perfect for the medium-range engagements you'd expect from a high-caliber, semi-automatic sniper rifle.

However, the other DMRs i BF6 is actually not that far behind SVK in terms of raw performancesbut since weapon power is primarily dictated by engagement range, it would be wrong to call SVK the absolute best of all maps in BF6. Faster firing DMRs tend to be stronger in close range combat, while slower ones excel at longer ranges.

SVK 8.6

As mentioned above, the SVK 8.6 is capable of one two-shot death to the body against any target within 200 meters — this makes the weapon incredibly easy to use compared to the other DMRs (more on this later), since you don't need to do headshots to be most effective. Despite having a slow rate of fire of 150 RPM, its optimal body shot TTK is still 0.4 seconds, which is the same as the LMR27 and SVDM.

SVK has one glaring drawback: it has terrible handling. The ADS time and reload speed of this rifle take ages to complete, and when you combine these with its poor hipfire accuracy and slow rate of fire, you end up with a gun that is terrible up close. SVK also cannot kill enemies in one hit unless you use Hollow Point ammo, and even then, the one-shot range is only 10 or so meters. Other DMRs can achieve faster TTK by headshotting, but the same cannot be said for the SVK unless you are willing to sacrifice mount points for Hollow Points while using the gun at its worst engagement distance.

M39 EMR

We originally ranked the M39 EMR as the third best DMR in BF6, but after spending a little more time with it, I've decided to bump it up a notch above the SVDM for one simple reason: the M39 EMR is a much safer option despite its slightly slower TTK. Let me explain.

The M39 EMR's standard 20-round magazine lets you dump more bullets into someone without reloading, and it accounts for any shots you might miss. When fighting up close, the extra 10 rounds will let you spam more and potentially win more fights against multiple targets, while SVDM will often run out of ammo when a second or third enemy appears.

However, I cannot stress enough how similar the M39 and SVDM are in terms of performance. The former is the safer and more convenient option, while the latter is for more skilled players who can make the most of fewer balls.

SVDM

The SVDM is a faster firing DMR compared to the SVK and M39, but since it deals less damage, you'll need to land either three body shots or two head shots with it to take someone down. I originally rated this higher than the M39, but after more experience with the SVDM I found the M39 to be more reliable at all distances despite its slower rate of fire.

Where SVDM really excels is not in any specific map, but in a specific playstyle. This rifle rewards players who can flank enemy front lines and pick off targets without sounding the alarm. Even in BF6 maps like the Empire State the SVDM works better than the M39 due to its faster rate of fire. This is even more noticeable in Hagental Base, where a player with an SVDM can look down a corridor and take down enemies before they can finish peaking out of cover.

The aftermarket buffer accessory from BF6 Season 3 can be equipped on both SVDM and M39. Using it will reduce visual recoil, and specifically on these DMRs there is a noticeable reduction in scope bounce when the aftermarket buffer is fitted.

BRT-CPS

GRT-CPS is in a bit of an awkward spot. Much like the LMR27 below, this weapon requires at least four bullets to take down an enemy. Unlike DMR above, GRT-CPS is designed for spams bullets downmaking it the most forgiving rifle of the bunch.

This weapon's 4-bullet damage profile no doubt draws comparisons to the LMR27, but what the GRT-CPS has over the latter is a standard mag size of 20 rounds. This alone makes the GRT-CPS superior to the LMR27 in terms of practical use, although it is far from the best DMR in BF6. You won't win any head-to-head gunfights with this rifle, but if you can play to its strengths, you can definitely get a lot of value out of it.

After the changes made to the M277 Carbine in Seasons 2 and 3, the GRT-CPS became even more redundant. The M277 matches its performance out to 75 meters (where the GRT-CPS works best), and it also greatly outperforms it at short range.

LMR27

We previously called the LMR27 a cruel joke of a weapon BF6, and it still is, just not in the way you might expect. This gun takes four shots to kill someone (three if you hit the head) — this may sound bad, but since its optimal body shot TTK is the same as SVK and SVDM, it's really not that big of a deal. The real kicker here is the LMR27's small 10-round magazine sizeand its painfully slow reload time of 2.8 seconds. Unless you have perfect accuracy, you likely won't be able to take down more than one enemy per magazine, and the downtime between reloads is so long that it's hard not to find the gun annoying to use.

However, there are some good things about the LMR27, namely:

  • The LMR27 remains accurate at close and medium range even when shooting and shooting.

  • The gun has good basic accuracy for hipfire.

  • It starts with a Bipod.

BF6 LMR27 Bipod
Battlefield 6 LMR27 Bipod

While we'd never recommend using the LMR27 for close-quarters, head-on duels, it's still nice to know that the gun can still hit things accurately even when you're on the move. But the most important part about LMR27 is that it comes with a pre-installed bipod. The pistol may have low damage, but if you use it with a bipod you can basically spam the trigger without worrying about recoil. Ironically, with his bipod deployed, The LMR27 is the easiest DMR to use at long distances (at least by default), also beats SVK in terms of ease of use.

Still, The LMR27's disadvantages far outweigh its advantagesespecially when you consider that one of its saving graces is something other DMRs may eventually get down the road. Sure, it has the makings of a good close range DMR, but it's hard to justify using this for CQB when the M277 Carbine is available, and while there is a 20-round mag option for the LMR27 for better long-range engagement, you might as well use the M250 LMG at that point.
