With the current console generation now in its latter half, is PlayStation 5 has been a huge success with over 65 million units sold and record profits for Sony. More importantly, though, PlayStation's first-party team has pumped out a slew of critically acclaimed games for PS5 over the past four years, such as God of War Ragnarok, Marvel's Spider-Man 2the Demon's Souls remake, Astro Bot, Gran Turismo 7, Horizon Forbidden Westand many more.
But many PlayStation fans are wondering what this future production looks like. Sony has a stable of over 19 first-party studios, but many PlayStation teams have been pretty quiet about their under-development projects for a while. Going forward, however, Sony is promising major PS5 titles on an annual basis, so it's worth taking a look at the rumored games PlayStation fans could see from their first-party studios in the coming years.

Naughty Dog's next game may arrive sooner than expected
A recent comment from Naughty Dog president Neil Druckmann suggests that the studio's long-awaited next game might not be too far off.
Rumored games in development at PlayStation's largest First-Party Studios
Naughty Dog, Santa Monica Studio, Guerrilla Games and Insomniac Games are four of the most prominent studios under the PlayStation banner. Of these, Naughty Dog has gone the longest without releasing a new game. The studio is developing two projects, a brand new IP and The last of us 3. As for which will be released first, rumors claim that Naughty Dog's new IP will be its next game. Another team working on one new IP is Santa Monicabut that's not all, as the studio is allegedly developing next main line God of war entry and a spin-off title centered around Atreus likewise (which could easily be one and the same).
Game studios are often very secretive about their projects, so the rumored PlayStation games discussed here should be taken with a grain of salt.
Guerrilla is the overseer of the highly successful Horizon franchise, so it's not particularly surprising that the studio is working on more Horizon game. It was confirmed in 2022 that Guerrilla has one multiplayer Horizon games and a third main entry at some stage of production, but reports of a Horizon The MMORPG developed in collaboration with Korean studio NCSoft has been bubbling for a while. Last but not least is Insomniac, where the December 2023 data breach leaked the studio's entire game release roadmap for the next nine years, with heavy hitters including Marvel's Spider-Man 3a Married Spin-off, a new one Ratchet and Clank entry, and also a X-Men game.
All rumored PlayStation First-Party games in development
- Firesprite: Until Dawn 2
- Guerrilla Games: Horizon MMO
- Nixxes Software: God of War remasters for Greek sagas
- Santa Monica Studio: Next mainline God of War game and Atreus spin-off
- Unnamed: Jason Blundell Studio: Currently unknown, possibly continuing Deviation Games project
As for upcoming projects from other PlayStation studios, Firesprite's past job postings strongly hint that it's developing one Until Dawn continuation. Adding further credence to this rumor are the extended ending sequences in the recently released Until Dawn remake that teases a continuation of the story.
Nixxes Software cut its teeth on PlayStation Studios' roster of high-quality PC ports for PS4 and PS5 games. With the studio leading the development of Horizon Zero Dawn remasteredBut Sony may be expanding Nixxe's role beyond just the company's PC porting team. Conveniently enough, Nixxes were recently rumored to be working on a collection of remastered Greek God of war game. These remasters will allegedly be released in 2025 to celebrate God of war series' 20th anniversary, so fans won't have to wait long to see if this rumor pans out.
Game rumors aside, there is an entire PlayStation team whose existence is unconfirmed at this time. This studio will reportedly be created with talent from Deviation Games, a fledgling team that Sony partnered with two years ago. Unfortunately, Deviation Games had to close its doors earlier this year after facing financial difficulties, layoffs and the exit of key creators, including one of Deviation's co-founders, Jason Blundell. Interestingly, Blundell will be leading this mysterious PlayStation studio, but it is not yet decided what he and the team are working on. The running theory is that the Blundell-led studio could continue with Deviation's games, but it will likely be several years before this is confirmed.
