All 5 characters who fought a legendary Super Saiyan and won

The legendary Super Saiyan form is the ultimate Saiyan transformation in Dragon Ball. Not counting fusions, only one Saiyan in each universe can transform into a legendary Super Saiyan. Legendary Super Saiyans have immense power and potential, they only get stronger the longer they fight.

Fighting a legendary Super Saiyan at full power is practically a death sentence, and winning is only possible for the strongest characters in the multiverse. Considering how staggeringly powerful the average Legendary Super Saiyan is, only a few Dragon Ball characters have actually been able to beat one in a fight. Kale, Kefla and Broly are three of the most overpowered characters in Dragon Ball history, but they are not invincible.

Jiren One-Shot's Legendary Super Saiyan Kale in Dragon Ball Super Anime

JIren vs Kale

Kale is the legendary Super Saiyan from Universe 6, and was technically the first canon LSSJ i Dragon Ball Super. Kale unlocks her legendary Super Saiyan form during the Tournament of Power and immediately goes on a rampage as she loses control of her senses. In it Dragon Ball Super manga, Kale is responsible for eliminating more fighters than anyone else, as well as eliminating three entire universes.

In it Dragon Ball SuperLegendary Super Saiyan Kale slaps Super Saiyan Blue Goku around like he's nothing. Unfortunately for Kale, she comes face to face with Jiren. Jiren is so powerful that he can defeat Kale with a single Ki blast. Jiren knocks Kale out of his legendary Super Saiyan form, stripping the power right down to the base. From there, Kale regains her senses and she and Caulifla eventually use the Potara to merge into Kefla.

Ultra Instinct Sign Goku defeats legendary Super Saiyan 2 Kefla in Anime's Tournament of Power

Kefla is one of the strongest Saiyans in Dragon Ball franchise, and one of the most powerful mergers of all time. The anime version of Kefla is very stronger than his manga counterpart, who couldn't even defeat Ultimate Gohan. In comparison, Kefla in the anime is so strong that she is the reason why Goku triggers the Ultra Instinct Sign a second time, putting her on the same level as Jiren. Anime Kefla can also transform Legendary Super Saiyan 2, due to Caulifla unlocking SSJ2 in the anime continuity.

When all is said and done, however, Kefla can't compete with the power and skill of Ultra Instinct. Goku's mastery of the Ultra Instinct Sign greatly improves in his fight with Kefla, as he is able to not only dodge her attacks effortlessly, but recharge his Ki to incredibly high levels. As Legendary Super Saiyan 2 Kefla launches his final attack against Goku, he skillfully charges up a Kamehameha, uses it to ride the wave of her explosion, and then launches it full force into her face, eliminating her from the tournament. Especially that one Dragon Ball Super anime is the only canon continuity where Goku has beaten a legendary Super Saiyan.

Goku's greatest victories are won through hard work and pushing himself past his limits, allowing him to beat the strongest warriors in the multiverse.

Gohan is the only Dragon Ball character to have beaten two legendary Super Saiyans

Gohan is currently the strongest Z fighter in Dragon Ball Superand has the impressive record of defeating two different legendary Super Saiyans – both win exclusives for Dragon Ball Super manga. In the manga's version of the Tournament of Power, Kefla ends up fighting Ultimate Gohan instead of Goku, whose sole focus is fighting Jiren. Kefla only has access to the regular legendary Super Saiyan form in the manga, boosting her to Ultimate Gohan's Power Level. The duo wear each other out and knock each other out in a double knockout.

Their fight is technically a draw, but since Universe 6 is eliminated as a result of Kefla's loss, the win technically goes to Gohan. IN Dragon Ball Super Chapter 103, Gohan Beast ends up sparring with Broly and pushing him to trigger his Full Power Super Saiyan transformation. Gohan Beast holds the edge throughout the fight and treats Broly like nothing. Their fight is interrupted by Goten, Trunks and Vegeta, who initiate a Super Saiyan Battle Royale, but Gohan is implied to be the winner of the match. Even if they hadn't been interrupted, Gohan Beast was much stronger than Broly and would have won either way.

Super Saiyan Blue Gogeta destroyed legendary Super Saiyan Broly

Broly grows so strong, so fast, that Goku and Vegeta simply can't keep up with him anymore once he unlocks his legendary Super Saiyan form. Instead, the two escape to Piccolo and train the Fusion Dance so they can become Gogeta – the ultimate warrior and one of the most overpowered characters in Dragon Ball Super. Gogeta never breaks a sweat when fighting Broly, gradually switching from his base form to Super Saiyan and finally Super Saiyan Blue as he tests the extent of Broly's power level.

Super Saiyan Blue Gogeta is insanely strong. He is even powerful enough to cause a dimensional breach in the fabric of the universe, briefly teleporting himself and Broly to a realm between space and time. Gogeta Blue absolutely destroys the legendary Super Saiyan Broly, breaking him down into fear. If Cheelai hadn't used the Dragon Ball to warp Broly back into Vampa, Super Saiyan Blue Gogeta would have finished him off with a Limit Ultra Kamehameha.

Whis scoffed at Broly fighting at full power

Whis in Dragon Ball SUPER Broly

As Goku and Vegeta teleport to Piccolo when Broly becomes too powerful, the legendary Super Saiyan turns his sights on Frieza. LSSJ Broly beats on Frieza for a solid hour before he ends up attacking Whis. As an angel, Whis is one of the most powerful beings in the entire multiverse. He may not fight back or meddle in mortal affairs, but he doesn't have to.

Whis effortlessly dodges every punch Broly throws at him. If Whis wanted to, he could have killed Broly there and then (but that would have made him disappear from existence). It's hard to say that Whis beat Broly considering he didn't fight back, but the fact remains that Broly started a fight he could never win and failing to land a hit is a definite loss for the legendary Super Saiyan.
