After 11 years, say hello to the new strongest creature in one piece

11 years ago, on August 3, 2015, i One Piece Chapter 795, Eiichiro Oda officially introduced the strongest being that exists in the world of One Piece. This character was none other than the King of Beasts, Kaido, who fell from a Sky Island named Balloon Terminal and landed in front of the trio of Eustass Kid, Scratchmen Apoo and Basil Hawkins. Kaido made his official introduction as one of the Four Emperors of the Sea and an unbeatable monster who was tipped to win every one-on-one battle he participated in. As the strongest being in the world, he was a monstrosity to deal with, and Luffy's fight against him in the Wano Country Arc showed why he was given this title in the first place. Obviously, Kaido was an incredibly powerful fighter.

Now, 11 years later, in One Piece's Elbaf Arc, Eiichiro Oda has officially replaced him with a new person more than worthy of holding the title of “The Strongest Creature”. This person is none other than Loki, who holds the power of Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Nidhoggr, which was officially revealed in One Piece Chapter 1175 on March 2, 2026, in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #14.

One Piece's Kaido has officially been eclipsed by Loki's Nidhoggr ability as the new strongest being

One Piece Chapter 795 introduced Kaido as the world's strongest being, but it wasn't until many years later in the Wano arc that his abilities were officially introduced. One Piece Chapter 921, released in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #57 on October 22, 2018, debuted Yonko Kaido's transformative power and revealed him as a dragon.

Kaido was revealed to have eaten the Uo Uo no Mi, Model: Seiryu in One Piece Chapter 999, which he stole from Big Mom at God Valley 38 years ago. In the years following the God Valley incident, Kaido slowly built up his strength and started the Beast Pirates, and over time his strength was considered untouchable. Kaido was also named the official strongest being in the entire world, and this was largely due to the nature of his Devil Fruit.

Kaido's Seiryu Devil Fruit allowed him to transform into a giant blue eastern dragon with impenetrable skin. In fact, only attacks coated in the Supreme King's color were strong enough to penetrate his defenses. In addition, Kaido's Devil Fruit gave him the ability to manipulate three elements, they are fire, wind and lightning. Of these elements, his control over fire was the strongest, with his Flaming Drum Dragon, which officially debuted in One Piece Chapter 1048 on May 9, 2022, being the pinnacle of it.

Despite the immense powers that Kaido carried, One Piece Chapter 1175 has officially dethroned him as the strongest being in the world by introducing none other than Nidhoggr, who is a legendary dragon found in the middle of Elbaf. Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Nidhoggr is a legendary Devil Fruit formerly eaten by Elbaf's god of war, presumably named Douzan.

This particular war god was so strong that he could compete with the sun god Nika long ago and even stand up to the likes of Nerona Imu in battle. His strength was virtually unmatched at the time, but under unforeseen and mysterious circumstances, he ended up dying. Now, centuries later, Loki wields the same power, becoming the second coming of the war god Elbaf and wielding the abilities of the giant black lightning dragon called Nidhoggr.

Loki's Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Nidhoggr makes him stronger than Kaido

Loki's Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Nidhoggr is incredibly strong, and it has already been shown to be stronger than Kaido's Uo Uo no Mi, Model, Seiryu. First, Loki's Devil Fruit was said to have the potential to destroy the entire world in One Piece Chapters 1130 and 1136, making it extremely special in terms of abilities. A glimpse of this power was shown in the climax of Elbaf, beginning with chapter 1175, which was released in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #14 on March 2, 2026. This chapter featured a temporary attack from Loki, called Thorheim, which was strong enough to blow up an entire village in Elbaf. Considering the size of Elbaf, this explosion was strong enough to destroy an entire small country with ease, making it a monstrously powerful attack.

In addition, Loki's Devil Fruit is shown to have tremendous toughness, allowing him to counter multiple attacks from Nerona Imu's Akuma no Mi abilities, such as Sword of Judgment: Nemesis. Even powerful attacks charged with Conqueror's Haki can be easily parried by Loki, making him one of the most unique Devil Fruit users in history.

Since Nidhoggr's lightning ability is already strong enough to surpass the likes of Seiryu and his defense ability is comparable to Kaido's, if not even greater, it can be said that this Devil Fruit offers powers on a much larger scale. The fact that it is a god ability with the potential to destroy the entire world with its lightning based attacks further solidifies its position at the top.

One Piece's final saga will continue to reveal stronger characters than Kaido

Kaido existed as one of the strongest Devil Fruit users in One Piece, and at one point he more than deservedly held the title of the strongest being in the world; however, the story has progressed significantly, and the vast majority of the characters are now at a completely different level of strength. For example, Kaido and Big Mom failed to deal any kind of lethal damage to the likes of the Worst Generation when they fought together, starting Chapter 1000 all the way to Chapter 1010. Meanwhile, Shanks, one of the Four Sea Emperors, took down two members in a casual attack that wasn't even his strongest in 10, 7, 10, 2010. 2023, in WSJ Number 17.

Likewise, Loki's Nidhoggr ability is far greater than Kaido's, despite the former Yonko holding the title of the strongest being in the world. Meanwhile, Nerona Imu exists at the top as one of the strongest monstrosities that even the likes of Kaido and Big Mom can't match. The implication here is that Final Saga will introduce Devil Fruit abilities on a completely different scale that will dwarf even the likes of Kaido and Big Mom, and this is an exciting possibility that we can't wait to see unfold.
