Wild forests is a co-op experience developed by Octofox Games, an indie studio based in Hamburg, Germany. It features some adorable character art and puts players in the shoes of a brave group of adventurous cats traveling through a magical forest on a wooden wagon. Wild forests is scheduled to launch as part of the Steam Early Access program on Monday, December 9.

Ahead of its debut, publisher Daedalic Entertainment shared some new ones Wild forests screenshots, which Game Rant can now exclusively reveal. The pictures give a brief overview of Wild forests gameplay loop, which alternates between combat, resource gathering, wagon upgrades, and path selection. Since this is first and foremost a couch co-op experience, success will depend on well-planned and skillfully executed teamwork.
Wild Woods Early Access version promises decent amount of content
While its Early Access label means the game is technically unfinished, Wild forests still promises to offer a decent amount of content on day one. The first build will include two biomes, 46 character and vehicle upgrades, 15 unique cat skins, 30 challenges, 20 achievements, and three difficulty levels. That's without taking into account the three exclusive kitty skins and two wagon skins that are planned to be offered as part of the game's backer pack. As for enemies, six types of mobs will be available at launch, and each Wild forests biome will contain a boss.

The Early Access co-op game is currently eyeing a full-fledged release in late 2025 or early 2026, though that launch window is tentative. Octofox said they intend to incorporate a lot of player feedback into their future updates, which could lead to Wild forests staying in early access a little longer. Anyone who wants to help shape the game forward is encouraged to join Wild forests Discord server, where they will be able to add to-do cards to the Octofox feedback system, as well as track their submissions to see if and when they have been confirmed by the development team. The German studio said it will aim to share a devlog per month to update the community on its progress.
Steam version of Wild forests will only be playable on Windows machines. It is currently unclear if Octofox intends to port its debut title to other platforms.
