Updated on January 19, 2025 by Mehrdad Khayyat: Ready Or Not is one of the most impressive tactical shooters of recent years, heavily inspired by the SWAT series, and the developers continue to fix the existing problems and add new content through expansions, resulting in one of the most enjoyable experiences available on Steam.
That being said, it can be a little overwhelming to start this game for newcomers with no prior tactical shooter experience. Ready Or Not has a brutal and unforgiving gameplay loop, which is why it's quite beneficial to learn a few tips before going in.
10
Take it slow
Slow is smooth, smooth is safe
IN Ready or noteverything may seem very fast, but that doesn't mean it really is. During missions, players should take some time to analyze the situation carefully and act accordingly. This gives them a better chance to minimize the risk that comes with making rash moves.
It's well established that playing impulsively leads to unwanted results, so it's never too late to start taking things slow. Slowing down also allows players to better communicate and assess their surroundings, allowing them to take on missions and complete them with no chance of failure.
9
Be quiet
Silence leads to less panic situations
When players try to sneak up on their enemies, they should be as quiet as possible. This is because enemies can be alerted to a player's presence by the audio signals they can leave. This causes them to attack and gives players a very short time to react.
Avoid this by walking slowly and not sprinting and/or crouching at or around enemies. If the enemies become aware of a player's movement, it can jeopardize their chance to surprise the enemies and instead be jumped by them.
8
Search the entire map in known order
Never leave a room without investing everything
One of the common goals in each mission Ready or not is to either barricade all suspects or gather evidence. The maps in this game have a lot of verticality and the layout is usually complex, making it difficult to keep track of searched and unsearched rooms unless the player is given a known order.
That's why it's important to keep tidying up the map to make sure no room or corner was left unexplored, otherwise it would be such a pain to kill all the enemies and then return to find the undiscovered rooms in the search for a single suspect who has not yet been barricaded.
7
Polish knowledge on the shooting range
Practice makes perfect
Shooting Range is one of the best places where players can polish and refine their skills. This range provides a controlled environment where players can perfect their aim and learn the mechanics for the best of every gun in the game. It lies in the back of the Los Suenos Police Departmentwhich can be accessed via the main lobby.

Ready or Not: Best Armor
There are three armor materials in Ready or Not, and each of them has its own advantages and disadvantages.
Players can choose from different weapons and increase their precision skills by practicing in the field and become the best SWAT officers ever, which is needed because crime never sleeps Ready or not.
6
Use mirror gun before entering a room
Tripwires can wipe out an entire squad
Losing every single officer in the campaign for Ready or not is already painful enough, so the best a player can do is prevent an entire squad from being wiped out! By far, trip wires are the deadliest traps in this game, placed behind a door to make easy deaths for the criminals.
The only unit that can let the player know about these traps is the Mirror Gun. Even if the player themselves doesn't have it equipped in the loadout, they can order an AI teammate to check the doors for traps before rushing inside.
But if no one has a Mirror Gun in the squad, the safest way is to peek through the door. If there is a wire visible at the base of the door, it means a release wire has been installed. So, either find an alternate way inside or disarm the trap while the door is slightly open.
5
Please use Flashbangs before making a contribution
It is the easiest way to avoid criminals from stance angles
Even if the criminals are AI powered Ready or notthey are quite smart and accurate. So it's hard to imagine making an entry into a room full of criminals without getting a serious injury or even a casualty. This is why flashbangs are essential.
After controlling a room with a mirror gun, the player can not only learn about tripwires, but they can also see the enemies inside. So if there's more than one criminal in a room, it's best to peek open the door and throw a flashbang before entering. This will cause the criminals to get concussions and prevent them from shooting the cops properly, which also gives an opportunity to arrest them alive.
4
Let criminals give up
Earn a higher rating with less bloodshed
The best way to deal with a hostile situation is to have the suspects surrender themselves. Players can use non-lethal tactics, such as shooting enemies with a beanbag gun or electrocuting them with a taser. Enemies will fall prey to this simple tactic, allowing players to simply ask them to surrender by pressing “F” key.
Some suspects may launch a surprise attack on the player while feigning surrender. Consider this before you just let them loose. Players can avoid this by carefully noticing enemy movements and immediately blocking them.
3
Use The Corners
Kika stops surprises
Corners are perfect to use during gunfights or when trying to get important information about enemy positions. By mastering this skill, players can analyze any incoming threat. The lean mechanic allows players to peek around corners without fully exposing themselves.
With practice, players can easily learn this mechanic and use it to their advantage. This useful strategy allows players to assess the situation in advance, so that they can surprise enemies and give them no chance to retaliate.
2
Incorporate long tactics
Bring the right tools for the job
Adding Long Tactics to the inventory greatly increases the effectiveness of a SWAT unit. These tools help players in many hostile situations they may find themselves in. Doing so will help players take on these troublemakers fairly easily.
Players can break open doors by using breaking shotgun or battering ramwhich enables them to exterminate their enemies quickly. The mirror gun allows players to map areas without having to expose themselves. They may even use one ballistic shield as they face gunfire to protect themselves and their team. In the long run, these tools will always be needed.
1
Using wedges
Prevent flanks with wedges
When players are in a volatile environment, they will always have to worry about surprise attacks from their enemies. This problem can be solved by taking great advantage of door wedges. Players can press “4” button to equip the wedges and use the left mouse button to place them on the door. Doing so helps them counter all enemy attacks and protects them from being caught off guard.
Players can secure entry points, giving them a great chance to withstand all enemy attacks. This also helps them maintain great control over enemy forces.
