While the battle system is definitely not as deep as the regular Monster Hunter games, Monster Hunter Now has more than enough stats, skills, weapon variety, and monster mechanics to keep you busy. Below we take a look at Affinity, including what it does and how to increase it.

What does affinity do?

Affinity is essentially yours critical hit chanceor your chance to critically strike with an attack. Raising your affinity therefore makes your attacks more likely to be critical hits. Deal with critical hits 25 percent more damage than regular meetings.

You can tell when you've scored a critical hit by bright red streak which appears at the same time as your weapon hits the monster.

Likewise, some weapons may have negative affinity. In this case, the negative affinity percentage chance for the weapon to hit for less damage. A negative Affinity hit will deal 25 percent less damage.

How to increase affinity

The level one stat for the Critical Eye skill that increases affinity.

Each weapon has a base affinity stat, but you can too increase your overall affinity through certain skills. Critical eye increases your overall affinity, while Exploit weakness increases your affinity when attacking a monster's weak point.

Critical eye and Exploit weakness stack with each other, but Affinity is limited to 100 percentas each attack is a critical hit.
