But one thing that stood out to fans quite a bit in this chapter was the reappearance of an explorer who appeared in the series before, who goes by the name of Luis Arnot. While this character may be pushed aside by fans simply because he's never been seen, his importance to the plot can be huge.
Who is Louis Arnot?
- An explorer who first appeared during Little Garden
- Potentially the mysterious man of Elbaf
Louis Arnot is an explorer found in One Piece World. Currently, it is unknown if Louis Arnot is alive or dead. But what fans can say for sure is that Luis Arnot is deeply invested in the history of the Giants and everywhere the Giants have lived. The most notable contribution of this explorer i One Piece the world is his work called Brag Men. In Brag Men there are many stories that are believed by the people to be myths, but are believed to be real by other explorers, much like the Grand Line itself. Louis Arnot is also known specifically for giving his name to the island called Little Garden. According to Louis, the reason this island is called Little Garden is because its inhabitants, who are prehistoric animals, and along with them, Dorry and Brogy at the time, this island is nothing but a small garden. This is why Arnot became famous to many people, along with many other things that he did in One Piece.
For the inhabitants of this island, it really is a small garden. So let's name it Little Garden. – Louis Arnot, explorer
Unfortunately, Luis Arnot was not mentioned again in the One Piece quite a while after his introduction in the Little Garden arc. As such, fans considered him an irrelevant character who didn't have much to add to the story. But now that the Elbaf arc has begun, it's clear that Louis Arnot is actually a very important character, and that his obsession with the culture of giants, along with much else, is at least worth something.
IN One Piece chapter 1132 Louis Arnot reappeared. Around this time, fans were introduced to another note by Luis Arnot from when he was exploring Elbaf, likely around the same time he was also exploring the Little Garden. This means that the note written by Louis Arnot should be about 100 years old or older. According to Louis Arnot, Elbaf is a wonderful land, filled with lush forests, absolutely enormous animals and insects and everything else that matches the scale. The grandeur of this place is unbeatable, and other explorers will not regret their lost time on this particular island. But Louis Arnot also had a warning for his explorers. He specifically asked them not to spend too much time in Elbaf.
Is Louis Arnot Elbaf's mystery man?
Arnot could have already been seen in one piece
IN One Piece Chapter 1132 Louis Arnot gained a lot of importance. This was due to several reasons, one of them being that he revealed intriguing information about Elbaf, while the other was that his note was actually right next to Elbaf's mysterious person. For a while now, fans have been waiting to see who the mysterious Elbaf man in a silhouette really is. The identity of this person remains a secret even now, and he has already appeared twice in the story. But, i One Piece chapter 1132, Oda cunningly put this note right next to the mysterious man from Elbaf, implying that this character may actually be Arnot himself. This raises a lot of questions and some fans may even consider this impossible.
However, this idea has enough ground to stand on, especially because of how Oda presented it in the previous chapter.
Don't overstay your welcome in Elbaf! – Louis Arnot, explorer
There's also the problem that none of the characters fans think of him actually fit this person's billing. Of course, Scopper Gaban is a good guess, as is Shiki, but both have little significance at this point in One Piece. Gaban is unlikely to be more important than Rayleigh, but the possibility that the mysterious man is him cannot be denied. It's highly unlikely that Shiki is the mystery man, because Oda has clearly stated in the past that if something is used in a movie as an idea, it's only because he doesn't intend to use it in his main story.

Considering Shiki was already in Strong World, the idea of the mysterious man being him, even if it would actually make sense, has a very weak foundation.
The lack of perfect candidates continues to emphasize the importance of Louis Arnot. This person could very well be him, simply because Oda specifically brought Arnot back around the same time he reintroduced the mysterious man to Elbaf.
What time period was Louis Arnot in?
Arnot lived about 20-100 years ago
When he saw the mysterious man in Elbaf enter One Piece chapter 1132, fans have begun to wonder if this person is Louis Arnot himself. But then a problem really arises. This problem is that Louis Arnot's note was from over 100 years ago, or somewhere around that time. That means he explored over a century ago and it's also around that time period that he went to Elbaf. For him to still be alive right now after over a century of expiration doesn't make much sense, or, at least, doesn't seem likely.
But when you look at Arnot in the previous chapter, where he asks the explorers not to regret their lost time in Elbaf, things really start to click. Arnot also continued to warn explorers not to spend too long in Elbaf. This, combined with the previous statement, which Oda particularly emphasized, suggests that time can actually be lost in Elbaf, meaning that time here flows differently than time outside the country. It is possible that time in Elbaf flows much more slowly, and those who come here and eventually go back find out that the world has moved on and they have lost a lot of time.
Based on that, if Arnot was really in Elbaf, he could very well still be alive and introduced to Luffy as an explorer from a bygone era. Fans don't even know what era Arnot existed in, only that his book, Brag Men, is from about 100 years ago. There is a lot of exciting information about this character that could soon be revealed if the mystery man turns out to be him.
