Piccolo In Versus And Online Matches

A screen showing Piccolo's stats in Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero.

In his original form, Piccolo has some pretty basic stats, decent damage, and a low DP cost of four. Piccolo is best to use aggressively in online matches by rushing the opponent and stopping near them. This is mainly due to his skills and special abilities that require him to be up close to be effective.

Close the distance between you and your opponent. Use combo mixups and skills to keep the pressure on the opponent to prevent them from charging Ki.

Paralyze Beam is a handy tool to shut down the opponents playing too offensively or if they play too defensively. While the opponent is stunned, you can charge your Ki Gauge or leave straight on the offensive. Be warned, as a responsive player may notice you charging the skill and dodge it, leaving you open to punishment.

When Paralyze Beam is activated, Piccolo gains super armor and cannot be interrupted by basic attacks. However, he will still be able to take damage from enemy attacks.

Piccolo's special moves consist of one Russian attack and two beam attackswith one of them as his ultimate. While not the most powerful, his specials, minus the ultimate, has a low cost on your Ki Gauge.

Explosive Demon Wave is your special combos from move to finish without completely draining your Ki. Although it is low in cost, it has a major drawback its range is extremely short. Avoid pushing the opponent away if you want to land the special instead knock your opponent into the ground to hold them in place.

If you push the opponent away, a Explosive Breath Cannon or Special Beam Cannon are best to use. Explosive Breath Cannon is coming chase after the opponentquickly closing the distance and catching the opponent if they try to recover. Alternatively, if you are in spark mode, Special Beam Cannon can be used against a launched opponent as the beam comes out fast enough to catch them before they can recover.

Special Beam cannon will ricochet off the ground at the opponent if fired at a downward angle.

Piccolo (Fused With Kami) In Versus And Online MatchesThe stats screen for Piccolo in Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero.

Between both variants of Piccolo there aren't many differences apart from slight changes in the movesets and the slight damage increase with Fused With Kami. While the previous Piccolo variant had a more offensive and rush-based movement, Fused With Kami is superior in range and a more counter-offensive style of play.

This variant gains access to two skills that both prevent damage from either polish your defenses with False Courage or directly avoid damage entirely with Wild Sense. Wild Sense is coming avoid the next melee attack you get off disappears behind the opponent and counterswhich puts you on the offensive.

Wild Sense can be activated preemptively and will activate on the next attack the opponent throws.

All of Piccolo's special moves in this variant are beam/projectile based and both cost the same amount of Ki to perform. Special Beam Cannon is now a chargeable special attack that amplifies its damage the longer you hold the charge. However, this is inappropriate because, more often than not, you won't be able to get a full charge from aggressive opponents.

While the Special Beam Cannon can be used after launching an opponent, there is a chance it may be missed if the opponent's trajectory changes. The Light Grenade is a fast moving projectile that comes track the target after it is fired and a better option to use.

The Hellzone Grenade works the same way as the Light Grenade with the added benefit of increased damage and driving speed. To maximize your damage output, finish a combo in Sparking Mode with Hellzone Grenade and polish it by pressing R2/RT will cause great damage.
