How to Identify a Deildegast
Deildegast is one naturally fast ghost who can becomes dramatically slower depending on how many objects players disrupt before a chase begins. Its evidence combination of:
- EMF level 5
- Ghostwriting
- DOTS projector
This can confirm the identification, but its unique item mechanic is the best way to recognize it in action.
The biggest clue to identifying a Deildegast is its incredible hunting speed. During a hunt Deildegast moves at a base speed of 3 meters per secondmaking it one of the fastest ghosts in the game.
This puts it around the same speed as a Revenant when the Revenant is actively chasing a player. However, unlike many fast ghosts, Deildegast does not gain speed from maintaining line of sight with a player. It will maintain a steady speed throughout the chase.
The easiest way to test for a Deildegast is through pay attention to how the speed changes between hunts. Before a hunt begins, you can slow down the ghost by moving objects that naturally spawn around the investigation site. Items taken from the truck, such as flashlights, EMF readers, books, markers, or other equipment, do not count. Instead, you must pick up and throw items already placed in the house, such as plates, cups, toys, remote controls and other decorations.
Each unique item moved reduces Deildegast's speed by 0.1 meters per second. Throwing around 30 different objects will bring it down to its lowest possible speed, making it noticeably easier to survive a chase.
The the deceleration effect only applies after the objects have been moved before a hunt. When the chase is over, Deildegast returns to his normal fast speed unless disturbed by more objects. Dead players can also contribute by moving items, meaning eliminated teammates can still help slow the ghost.
