Adrian has been writing, criticizing and thinking about games since he first bought an N64 controller many years ago. These days he writes reviews, news and features for Game Rant and believes that games should be held to the same artistic standards as books, movies and TV shows. When he's not writing for Game Rant, Adrian writes even more reviews for Sirus Gaming and enjoys geeking out about tech and retro gaming at HackerNoon. Outside of the gaming world, he spends a lot of time enjoying movies or listening to every genre of music under the sun. Follow him on Twitter for nonsense tweets likely related to Dragon Ball Z, or check out Breadhouse Records for some tunes.
Marvel Token: Fighting Souls has revealed Phoenix Cyclops as its first Year 1 DLC character, giving the X-Men leader both his signature Optic Blasts and the cosmic powers of the Phoenix Force. The product of a massive collaboration between Arc System Works, PlayStation Studios and Marvel Games, Marvel Token: Fighting Souls brings 4v4 tag team fighting to one of the biggest media franchises in entertainment.
Phoenix Cyclops is Marvel Tokon's first Year 1 DLC character
On July 23, 2026, the team behind Marvel Token: Fighting Souls hosted a panel at San Diego Comic-Con and followed it up with a PlayStation blog post detailing everything that was announced. Perhaps the biggest announcement at SDCC for Marvel Tokens was the reveal of Phoenix Cyclops as the first Year 1 DLC character, arriving in Fall 2026. He will be voiced by Ray Chase, who fans may know as Rakan in Solo Leveling anime. This version of Scott Summers is inspired by his 2012 Phoenix Five incarnation Avengers vs. X-Men comic story, where Cyclops harnesses some of the cosmic Phoenix Force, so it's certainly not the character's usual X-Men look. Revealing the details that the character retains his classic powerful Optic Blast and exceptional hand-to-hand combat, except now enhanced by the Phoenix Force. Arc Systems Works has yet to explain exactly how these Phoenix powers will work during matches, but more detailed battle-like breakdowns are promised in future updates.
