Sneakerheads and fans of Dragon Ball Z will want to mark July 23 on their calendars, as Converse has unveiled a new sneaker and apparel collection inspired by the beloved series. Three decades after its last episode aired, Dragon Ball Z reveals one of the most acclaimed shonen series of all time, with legions of fans around the world. Now those who want to literally step into their favorite character's shoes will be able to do so when this new collection goes live.
Converse is well known for its shoes, apparel and accessories, and the company has collaborated with several popular IPs in the past, including Naruto Shippuden, Pokémon, JoJo's Bizarre Adventureand Sanrio. This time, the Boston-based company is tapping into one of the most influential global anime fandoms, and customers will be able to represent their favorite old man or villain from Dragon Ball Z when sales begin this week. Online excitement is at a fever pitch, with many fans content to see this new collection drop 30 years after the series finale originally aired on Japanese television.
The Dragon Ball Z Converse collection reveals themed kicks and apparel available July 23rd
The Dragon Ball Z x Converse Collection will be released in North America and China on July 23, 2026, with a global release following August 11, 2026, via the official Converse online store and select retailers. Fans will be able to snag several unique pairs of the Chuck Taylor All Stars honoring Goku, Frieza, Vegeta and Cell for $80.00 each, while the Majin Buu and Fusion sneakers are only available in kids sizes and retail for $55.00 each. A premium pair of Chuck 70s inspired by Shenron is the main focus of the collection, with each pair priced at $100. In addition, a selection of clothes with Dragon Ball and Converse logos will also be available for purchase.
Dragon Ball has transformed from a simple martial arts adventure series into a formidable media franchise, with its total estimated earnings in the realm of $10.7 billion at the time of writing. Merchandise has played a huge role in Akira Toriyama's magnum opus becoming such a cash cow, with the series inspiring everything from card games and action figures to countless video games. This month, the popular Japanese discount chain Thank You Mart launched a line of Dragon Ball Z-inspired items, with everything available for ￥390 (about US$2.50).
Dragon Ball Z reached its conclusion in 1996, but plenty of new anime releases have followed, including recut and remastered versions of the series, Dragon Ball Z Kai. Dragon Ball Supera midquel to the series, will see a new release in 2026, with fans eagerly awaiting Dragon Ball Super: Beerusa remaster of the Battle of Gods Arc. It's not the only thing on the list, either Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrola direct sequel to the Universe Survival Arc, will also be released in the near future, with many fans predicting a late 2027 or early 2028 premiere.
