Slides in College Football 27 used to make the best adjustments for an authentic and realistic experience both on and off the pitch. Modifiers like difficulty may not be easier to pick, compared to wear-and-tear rate or XP mods that may require half a season of Dynasty to show their effect in the long run.
Below we share the slider that you want to follow for a realistic experiencethat differ from the default settings and to help you avoid annoying incidents that can spoil your fun.
- Approved type: Renewed fit
- Transient deceleration: Of
- Increase in approved leads: Small
- AI WR for user teams: On
- Time-based catch minimum throw distance for attack/defense: Of
- Defensive Ball Hawk: On
- Defensive Heat Seeker Assist: On
- Switch Stick Delay: Easy
- Defensive Switch Assist: On
To find the options above, go to Settings in the main menu, then select Game Settings and scroll down to the Game Options tab. To change these settings for Dynasty mode only, switch to the Dynasty Central tab in your Dynasty hub, and you'll find them all under Game Options again.
For approved type, We highly recommend Revamped Passing if you want grades to matter in catching rather than player skill. There are two different approaches. If you want an authentic experience where good players play well, and weak players miss more often, then you should let the ratings decide the outcome of the match. This is why Revamped Passing or Classic is highly recommended.
However, if you want the player's skill to dictate the game, then go to Placement and Accuracy. Of course, rating still plays a role here, but an experienced player can still send superb passes to weaker players if they have already mastered the mechanics of the game.
AI WR for User Teams only allows the AI to intervene when you don't make any input to catch the ballbe it offense or defense. So, you can turn it off if you want a more punishing experience, but turning it on doesn't matter either, assuming players usually put in catchy inputs.
Defensive Ball Hawk and Defensive Heat Seeker help defenders move in the right direction automatically, whether catching the ball or tackling the ball carrier. We have this set to “on” because it takes a lot of practice to master catch mechanics without them. You can still turn them off if you feel safe enough, but it will make it very difficult to control the defense. So try it out in a Play Now match before starting a dynasty with it.
Switch Stick Delay determines an input pause window immediately after the snap. Before the snap, you can make adjustments to your defenders with the right stick, but when the snap happens, the right stick will be used to switch defenders. If you set it to None, the right stick will immediately switch players as soon as the snap occurs. Since it's a little hard to recognize the snap the moment it happens, it's best to have this setting on Slight to cover the slight human error.
Defensive Switch Assist is another AI-powered feature that lets you control the defender you just switched to with less error. It works in the same way as Switch Stick Delay. For a short time, the AI will control the defender to prevent sudden, unwanted control.

The first coin toss options are in the User Settings menu on the Dynasty Central tab. If you choose Kick as your first throw, and you win it, this guarantees you the ball at the start of the second half. And it is much more important to have the ball in the latter half of the game.
If you win your second pick, again, you will have an advantage in the latter half, as you will be playing with the wind in the 4th quarter, which helps a lot with the kicks.
For difficulty, I recommend All-American if you want something in between. Playing for the Heisman in Dynasty can be a little frustrating at first, especially if you are not an experienced player College football series. We suggest starting with All-American if you're playing against the CPU, and once you get the hang of the mode, start a new one on Heisman difficulty.
For Coach XP Speed, both career and simulation are recommended. The simulation will take longer to develop, and it will take a lot of character to join the top coaches in the league. However, the career will mostly focus on building a good program. You won't become the best coach in a single season, but it's still faster than Simulation, and you can join bigger teams after having a few successful seasons.
Recruit Flipping is a new option that enables a new feature in the transfer process. Unlike previous years, there is a new step between Top 3 and Hard Commit, known as Verbal Commitment. The team in first place in the top 3 stage will benefit from a bonus influence multiplier for their actions. This bonus is 25% by default, but we've raised it to 30% to make it more valuable, actually encouraging you to try to reach Verbal Commitment.
Verbal Commitment does not guarantee the transfer. The other two teams still have the chance to turn the tables and win the verbal commitment for themselves by sending in stronger measures.
If you want the legacy transfer system, you can turn off Recruit Flipping. But note that it will not bring back the top 8 stage, as it has been removed from College Football 27.
Quarter Length is a personal adjustment it depends on how much time you have to play. If you want to simulate real life, go for 15 minutes. But if you think that's too much, 10 or 12 minutes would be fine. Anything under 10 minutes hurts the authentic feel of the game unless you're short on free time.
For Kick Control, you are strongly advised to select Press and Hold. Holding down the button to set the power in the image is easier than a single press. It significantly reduces the risk of unwanted errors. Kicks are pretty important in the game, and you don't want to miss a chance to extend the lead with a weaker control scheme.
As mentioned above, Coach Mode is also optional. If you enable it, most of the settings I've talked about before won't matter anymore, as you'll only be managing the team off the pitch without control over the players individually.
For Wear and Tear, I've trimmed down almost every carry gauge from 50, since you generally take more damage than expected in Dynasty mode. This will help make damage happen with a more realistic frequency. I've also adjusted the recovery sliders to match the new damage settings. Halftime Recovery now contributes more to getting your energy back.
User Player Transfer Chance indicates the chances of losing your players in the transfer window. This happens a lot at the end of the season. A significant number of players try to leave, especially if they have had a great performance throughout the season, and your team is not a 5-star school. Lowering this metric to 45 will help you retain your players a bit. If you have the same CPU stat at 50, it will make it somewhat easier to recruit other players to your school.
Make sure to turn off Auto Recruit and Auto Progress Players. The former is done simply because you would generally love to be on top of the recruiting process without AI interruptions. The latter is disabled because we previously set the manual progression penalty to zero. It simply allows you to manually progress players for an authentic experience without expecting any penalty for doing so.
