Wood Release, also known as Mokuton, is one of the strongest Kekkei Genkai revealed in the Naruto series that debuted with the first Hokage, Hashirama Senju, in the Konoha Crush Arc in Naruto Chapter #120 2002. As the story progressed, Masashi Kishimoto, the creator of the Naruto series, gave more importance to Wood Release, and in the second half of the story, it became one of the most sought after Kekkei Genkai, along with Hashirama ascending to the throne of Shinobi. Since then, the Wood Release has held particular importance in the overall storyline of the Naruto series, which has also been carried over to Boruto.
In the new Boruto: Two Blue Vortex manga, Masashi Kishimoto and Mikio Ikemoto have officially introduced a powerful user of Wood Release that even surpasses Hashirama Senju, the God of Shinobi. This character is none other than Jura, whose control over Wood Release is absolutely sensational and in a completely different league than even the First Hokage.
Boruto: Two Blue Vortex officially makes Jura the strongest wood release user
Boruto: Two Blue Vortex introduced Jura in Chapter 4 on November 20, 2023. In the subsequent arcs, we got glimpses of Jura's powers, and it was clear to see that he could manipulate Wood Release. He used the power of Wood Release to impale Inojin Yamanaka and kill him before Himawari proceeded to revive him from death and the power on her own in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 10, which was officially released on May 20, 2024.

Later down the line, it was officially confirmed to us that Jura was actually the incarnation of the Ten-Tails themselves. This explained why Jura could use the Wood Release Kekkei Genkai. Wood Release is one of the primary Kekkei Genkai of the Ten Tails, and Jura being able to use it will not come as a surprise to any fan following this story. It also explains why Jura is a much stronger Wood Release user than even Hashirama Senju. At the end of the day, Hashirama is just a mortal who uses this Kekkei Genkai. Ten-Tails is a disaster that can manipulate Wood Release as an inherent technique on a much larger scale. Jura's Wood Release ability is much greater than Hashirama's, and we got another glimpse of this in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 24, which was officially released on July 17, 2025, during his fight against Kawaki.

Why Jura's Wood Release Jutsu Outclasses Hashirama
When Jura fought Boruto Uzumaki, he unleashed several powerful Wood Release jutsu that gave even the strong Uzumaki a lot of trouble. It must be remembered that at this point in the story, Boruto was already strong enough to easily overwhelm the likes of Code and even Shinju in battle. For Jura to overpower him shows that he possesses Wood Release skills that far surpass Hashirama's.

Also, when Kawaki entered the fray immediately after and attacked Jura in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter #24, the latter responded with powerful moves of his own. In the end, all the damage Kawaki inflicted on him at the cost of great energy was healed with the help of his Wood Release in seconds. If Jura had wanted to, he could have easily killed both Boruto and Kawaki there, and all the damage they caused amounted to absolutely nothing, thanks to his sensational use of Wood Release. Still, Jura grew fond of their growth and learned the truth about Naruto Uzumaki's fate and released them.

No matter how we look at it, Jura is far stronger than any other Wood Release user we've seen in history, be it Hashirama Senju, Madara Uchiha, or even the 10 Tails from the Fourth Great Ninja War. Considering that Wood Release is his primary ninjutsu ability, it is very likely that we will see more of this jutsu from him in the upcoming arcs of Boruto. The post-Mamushi arc, which officially began with Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 35 on June 18, 2026, set up a direct confrontation between the tag team of Boruto and Sarada against Jura and Hidari. This arc will definitely see Jura back in battle and, as such, further develop his Wood Release abilities.
Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 36 will set up a Power Up for Jura
Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 36 is just a few days away now, with the official release scheduled for July 20, 2026. Therefore, we eagerly expect this new arc to lead to a major power-up for Jura. For those who don't remember, the post-Mamushi arc of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex officially set up Hidari's death in the previous chapter. On June 18, 2026, we got a look at a heartfelt conversation between Jura and Hidari, with the latter asking the former why he worked so hard to secure his Thorn Soul Bulb and bring him back to life when he died. To that, Jura replied that he simply felt that the world was a sad place to live without him.

In other words, there is a huge death flag on Hidari's head, and given that loss of love leads to immense power in Boruto, the exact same plot line will repeat itself for Jura. When Hidari falls in the upcoming arc, and his Thorn Soul Bulb is taken from him, it is very likely that Jura will receive a significant power-up. This in turn puts a huge boost on his already strong Wood Release abilities and makes him a disaster beyond our imagination.
Jura is already stronger than any other character we've seen in the world of Naruto and Boruto, and this upcoming power-up will take him to sky-high levels, possibly even surpassing the likes of Baryon Mode Naruto Uzumaki. With a power of this immense power, Jura will have cemented himself as the greatest Wood Release user to ever exist, one so strong that all the others combined wouldn't even scratch him in battle.
