Granblue Fantasy: Relinklatest expansion, Infinite Ragnarökadds playable summons to the game. Many of them enemies and bosses fought in the game can be summoned and even controlled for a short time during combat. There's more to the system than just playing as your favorite prompt. There are several benefits to your characters as well. This guide will fully explain the summoning system in Granblue Fantasy: Relink – Endless Ragnarok and give tips on how to use it.
How to get and use summons in Endless Ragnarok
Before you can receive any summons, you must first unlock the feature. This is done when you start Infinite Ragnarök expansion. Once you've done the rank-up quest to unlock Chaos quests, there will be a short tutorial explaining the summoning mechanics.
Once the tutorial is complete, you can begin acquiring and using summons throughout the game. You can check the rewards for the new quests to see what summons are on offer, and you'll also get them as drop rewards. Basically, you can treat summons as another thing to loot and equip, like sigils.
You can equip up to four summons, and the first summon is the one used in multiplayer sessions. It is important to choose the one you want most in your first slot because of this.
When in battle, you build up the summon meter until the summon is available, then you can activate it. The cost of summons is another important factor. When you use a summon during battle, it reduces the cost of your other summon for the rest of the battle.
To maximize your calling, it is best to equip at least one of each cost: 1, 2 and 3. The fourth summon can be any cost. You will summon the 1 cost summon first, then the 2 cost as it will only cost 1, then finally the 3 cost which will also only cost 1 after the first two are used.
You cannot use summon while in the middle of Skybound Arts (SBA), until the burst window is gone and the burst has been activated.
Summon Benefits in Endless Ragnarok
The real benefit of summons doesn't come from using them in battle; those are the passive and equip bonuses.
Each summon displays an active trait and an equipment bonus. The active property works just like the bonuses on Sigils. So if a call has been linked, that trait will be active on your character if it is one of your four callings. The level of the property is also displayed next to its name. You can check your character to confirm any traits that are currently active.
The equip bonus is the effect you get just for having it as one of your four summons. It works in the same way as the active trait, except that it is only a bonus on the summon and does not add levels to a trait. Think of it as literally just a bonus on top of everything else. Keep that in mind when deciding which summon to equip in your first slot if you're playing multiplayer.
Best summons and bonuses in Endless Ragnarok
When deciding which summon to use, it's best to look at active traits and equip bonuses instead of the ability when you check the summon:
Lurker in the Dark is one of the best summons for most characters as it increases the normal attack damage cap by 50%.
Stout Heart is one of the best active traits as it allows you to completely skip using it as a Sigil to get the full benefit.
The best summon depends on the character and Master Traits you use. Fraux, for example, has a build where she benefits from a lot of Skill Damage and Skill Damage Cap Up, so you want to focus on summons that have those bonuses for her.
Overall, the summon system is an extension of gear with the added effect of being able to control them during combat. Granblue Fantasy: Relink – Endless Ragnarok has tons of summons for you to check out and mix and match for your specific builds.
