On July 3, 2026, at Anime Expo, Solo Leveling got its biggest update in over a year when the studio, A-1 Pictures, officially announced the next big step for the franchise in the form of a brand new movie, titled “Solo Leveling: Beyond the System.” While some fans thought the next project would be a third TV anime season, A-1 Pictures is instead going in the direction of a theatrical release.
Solo Leveling: Beyond the System is currently slated for a 2027 release, which means we could have at least a year of waiting ahead of us. To keep the tension high, sketches of Cha Hae-In, which sees her sparring with Jinwoo's Shadows, are resurfaced, giving us our first sneak peek at the film, as we know these images take place right before the Double Dungeon arc, which is more than likely the main focus of the film, based on the name and what we've seen so far. We can't wait for this movie to finally hit theaters after so much build up and excitement.
Reconstructed Cha Hae-In Sketches From 2023 Give Official First Look At Ahjin Guild Arc From Solo Leveling: Beyond The System Movie
Solo Leveling's anime debuted in 2024, thanks to tremendous hard work by A-1 Pictures. Since then, the franchise has received another animated project in the form of Solo Leveling Season 2, which was officially released in January 2025, over a year ago. Since the end of the second season, fans had been wondering what was next for the franchise. Fortunately, Anime Expo 2026 answered all our questions. On July 4, 2026, A-1 Pictures finally unveiled the next installment of the Solo Leveling series in the form of “Solo Leveling: Beyond the System”. Beyond the System is a theatrical release, and so far we've seen the Key Visual, as well as a stunning concept teaser trailer, which was also released on July 4, 2026.
While that may be true for officially confirmed content included in the film, we secretly got a sneak peek at more content three years ago, in 2023. 2023, Solo Leveling Season 1 was still in pre-production, yet a new sketch was revealed that focuses on Cha Hae-In, a powerful S-Rank Hunter from South Korea, and is likely straight from the upcoming film.
In these resurrected sketches from Solo Leveling production team, we specifically see Cha Hae In sparring. For fans who haven't read the Manhwa, this might not seem that important. However, these sketches dovetail perfectly with Solo Leveling Manhwa chapters 113 and 114, which cover her training with Jinwoo against two of his Shadows, Igris and Beru. In these two chapters, Cha Hae In wants to grow stronger, especially after the trauma she experienced during Jeju Island, where she was too weak to stop the Ant King. Her sparring with Igris is brief, but what caught everyone's eyes was her training battle against Beru, the Shadow of the Ant King. Cha is fine at first, but Beru easily overpowers her and nearly kills her. In the end, Beru had to be stopped by Jinwoo himself.
“Are you sure this black knight is your strongest? You said you would summon your strongest soldier for me. So summon them here now. I've been wanting a revenge anyway.” — Cha Hae In in Solo Leveling Chapter 113
For context, this training match happens a bit before the double dungeon, in the Ahjin arc, which we already know will be covered in the theatrical film, making this an early sneak peek of what's to come.
Solo Leveling: Beyond the System will cover the Ahjin Guild Arc and Double Dungeon Arcs
Currently, we have very limited information about Solo Leveling: Beyond the System. With only a title and a key image that only features Jinwoo, along with a small concept trailer that doesn't give away the main plot points, we don't know what to really expect from the film. However, Crunchyroll officially confirmed in its announcement on July 4, 2026 that the upcoming movie will be a continuation of the story after the events of the Jeju Island arc, and will take things from Season 2 of the TV anime. In other words, the Ahjin Guild Arc is next, followed by the arc that every single fan of Solo Leveling is eagerly waiting for, the Double Dungeon arc, which covers chapters 122-133 of the Solo Leveling manhwa.
The first arc to witness in the movie will be the Ahjin Guild arc, and it will adapt content from chapters 111 to 122. The Ahjin Guild arc may not be the most popular in the story, but it's still incredibly exciting, as it sees Beru clear an A-Rank Gate on her own. In this arc, Jinwoo will also acquire a new Shadow, Jima, one of the Naga.
The highly anticipated Double Dungeon arc will follow immediately after, and it will see Jinwoo face his biggest challenge yet. Jinwoo will return to where it all began and where he first acquired the system – the Cartenon Temple. There he will meet the architect and even lose his shadow army for a time. The fact that Jinwoo loses his powers for a while is what makes this more than likely the crux of the movie. The title “Beyond the System” is a clear hint of that. In the Double Dungeon, Jinwoo must survive without his powers.
Cha Hae-In's role in the new solo movie
Getting a sneak peek at Cha Hae-In a few years before the movie even premieres is definitely exciting, and it gives us an idea of what to expect from her. That said, while Cha Hae-In is an important character, no one will be able to outshine Jinwoo in Solo Leveling.
“My king gave me a command. To defeat my enemy without causing her any harm. I will show her how much stronger I am and make her lose her will to fight. A simple task indeed.” — Beru in Solo Leveling chapter 114
Regardless, Cha will still stand out in a few ways in the upcoming film. She will train with Igris and Beru, but she will also try to join the Ahjin Guild. She will also help Jinwoo in the Double Dungeon arc and try to fight the Architect and his statues. Her romance with Jinwoo is only going to blossom more going forward, and we absolutely can't wait to see it.
The first two seasons of the Solo Leveling TV anime by Aniplex and A-1 Pictures are currently available to stream on Crunchyroll.
