Many people already have high hopes for Exodus. This sci-fi RPG is being developed by Archetype, a studio formed by former BioWare developers, so many see this as a spiritual successor to the Mass Effect series.
So many were disappointed when it was confirmed that the character creator would be much more limited than Mass Effects. The developers have confirmed that we will have “curated options” when designing our own Jun Aslan, with the following customization options available to us: “hairstyles, facial hair, hair color, eye color, makeup and tattoos.”
The worst part of this, of course, is that those who had wanted to build their own character, or perhaps a character that looked a little more like them, will no longer be able to do so. But there is another group of fans who are also disappointed – those who believe that default Jun is hacked.
Exodus fans want Jun to be redone before the game launches
Fans had already complained that there was something a little off with Jun's facial animations in the previews we had seen. Now the fans are not at all fond of his appearance. It's not surprising, since we just learned that we're probably stuck with this face, so everyone will be a lot more critical now.
To make matters worse, we haven't even gotten a proper look at the female Jun yet. The developers have assured us that she exists, but all previews have been focused on dude-Jun so far. Admittedly, that's something it actually shares with Mass Effect, at least before the third game when femshep finally got to shine.
Considering Exodus launches next year, I wouldn't expect any kind of drastic redesigns – especially since they still seem to be putting the finishing touches on the female protagonist. But knowing how limited our options will be, fans will have much higher expectations; it will not be fixed in the character creator.
