6 most underwhelming Konoha 11 members, ranked

Konoha 11 is a powerful group of ninja of Naruto's generation, consisting of Shinobi from the various teams. This group, excluding Sasuke, consisted of Team 7, Team 8, Team 10, and, of course, Team Guy. All of these ninja were labeled to be the future of Konoha, and they certainly carried immense talent.

While quite a few of the Konoha 11 ended up meeting fans' expectations and making it to the next level, there were others that, for one reason or another, were underwhelming and definitely not as interesting to witness throughout the story.

Kiba Inuzuka

Kiba Inuzuka Most underwhelming Konoha 11 members naruto

  • Konoha Team: Team 8

  • Team Leader: Kurenai Yuhi

  • Kekkei Genkai: None

  • Ninja Rank: Chunin

Kiba of the Inuzuka clan is one of the most underwhelming characters in all of Naruto. Kiba was a member of Team 8 and really a very interesting character at the beginning of the series. He also fought Naruto Uzumaki in the Chunin Exams and really held his own.

In fact, he also played a big role in the Sasuke Retrieval arc. But from then on, his importance in the story diminished. He turned into a joke by the time of the Fourth Great Ninja War, and it wouldn't be a stretch to say that he became irrelevant. As a member of the Konoha 11, he definitely flopped, and in the Boruto era, he's pretty much irrelevant and not even talked about, which is really unfortunate.

Shino Aburame

  • Konoha Team: Team 8

  • Team Leader: Kurenai Yuhi

  • Kekkei Genkai: None

  • Ninja Rank: Jonin

Shino was quite an underrated character in the first part of Naruto. Although he hardly ever got his flowers, he was always the most composed of the Konoha 11, keeping his true strength to himself. He was seen fighting some very impressive battles in the Chunin Exams, and more importantly, later in the story, he also battled Kankuro.

Although he got small moments here and there in the war, Shino was largely neglected as a character, and it was pretty clear to see that the writer didn't really care about him. With that, he became one of the most underwhelming Konoha 11 ninja. In the Boruto era, Shino is officially seen as a Ninja Academy instructor, but unlike Iruka, he is quite strong. We would all appreciate his character a lot more if he was properly focused on by the writers.

4

Hinata Hyuga

Hinata Most Underwhelming Konoha 11 Members naruto

  • Konoha Team: Team 8

  • Team Leader: Kurenai Yuhi

  • Kekkei Genkai: Byakugan

  • Ninja Rank: Chunin

While Hinata certainly received better treatment than the likes of Kiba, she was still a largely neglected character. Her character started off incredibly well when she fought Neji during the Chunin Exams arc and used Naruto as her sole inspiration. She tried her best not only to fight against her cousin but at the same time to prove to the world that she was also a capable fighter.

Hinata did phenomenally well in her fight despite losing; but after that, her role in the story diminished quite a bit. Although she played an important role in Pain's Arc, she was only used to unleash Naruto Uzumaki's true power. During the war, she did nothing of note, and at the end of it all, despite all the talent she had, she ended up being a housewife and gave up her ninja duties. In Boruto, she is largely irrelevant and was eventually sealed away by Kawaki, cutting her out of the plot entirely. As a Konoha 11 member, Hinata is definitely underwhelming and has wasted a lot of potential as a ninja.

Boruto's new Jonin replaces Naruto as Konoha's #1 Ninja

Naruto has become nervous and in his weakened state he is far from Konoha's strongest Ninja.

Rock Lee

Rock Lee looks at the viewer with a slight smile.

  • Konoha Team: Team Guy

  • Team Leader: Might Guy

  • Kekkei Genkai: None

  • Ninja Rank: Jonin

Rock Lee was clearly a fan favorite at the beginning of the story. His story arc was compelling and touched the fans, as quite a few people could relate to him. His fight against Gaara echoes through history even now; but that's all this character has going for himself.

Rock Lee was largely neglected in the second part of Naruto, and his story arc was left largely untouched. All the fans were extremely disappointed to see how he was treated in the war. Although he is strong and still has a very interesting story, he can only be considered an underwhelming ninja in the Konoha 11 in the grand scheme of things.

2

Choji Akimichi

Choji Most Underwhelming Konoha 11 Members naruto

  • Konoha Team: Team 10

  • Team Leader: Asuma Sarutobi

  • Kekkei Genkai: None

  • Ninja Rank: Chunin

Choji was never the most interesting character in Naruto, and fans didn't care much for him. But despite all this, he received some attention at the beginning of the story from Masashi Kishimoto. Even then, however, he was largely underpowered and fell flat.

In the Sasuke Retrieval mission, we got a very interesting fight around him. However, this was the last we saw of him in action for a very long time. Although he got his moments here and there in the war, he was largely irrelevant and became even more boring as the plot continued. The fans didn't seem to care enough because Kishimoto never put much effort into his character, making him and underwhelming ninja as well.

The exam

Tenten Most Underwhelming Konoha 11 Members naruto

  • Konoha Team: Team Guy

  • Team Leader: Might Guy

  • Kekkei Genkai: None

  • Ninja Rank: Jonin

Quite simply, the biggest flop in all of Konoha 11 was Tenten. She was introduced as a member of Team Guy and considering that this team had an extra year of experience over everyone else, fans expected great things from them. Neji certainly lived up to those expectations. However, Tenten didn't. This was a very confusing decision by the author, largely because he doesn't know how to write his female characters properly.

What made this character arc even more terrifying was the fact that she had her own goals in the beginning. She wanted to become a powerful ninja like Tsunade; however, the two were not even seen interacting throughout the series. Tenten mastered quite a few weapons, but that was all there was to her character. In fact, even her own teacher, Guy, paid her no attention and was solely focused on Lee. She was failed as a ninja by her superiors and as a result ended up flopping as a member of the Konoha 11. That said, she still ended up rising high and gaining the rank of a Jonin by the Boruto era. Unfortunately, she is still not focused on in the story, which is definitely unfortunate.

All episodes of the Naruto series are available to stream on Crunchyroll.
