The annual Steam Summer Sale has begun, and The Outer Worlds 2 is on sale at a huge discount that is hard to miss. Last year, The Outer Worlds 2 brought a new sci-fi RPG to gamers that continued its predecessor's mix of witty humor and improved many of the features that made the first game such a fun take on the genre. Now, players who have been interested in jumping into Obsidian Entertainment's latest game can get The Outer Worlds 2 for 50% off on Steam for a limited time.
Those who have been waiting for Fallout 5unfortunately, probably have a little while before the day comes when Bethesda officially reveals the trailer. As fantasy fans continue to grow restless over no significant Elder rolls 6 news after eight years after the trailer revealed, it is very possible that Bethesda will not be ready to reveal Fallout 5 for a few more years at this point. The wait is frustrating, but the good news is that the Steam Summer Sale gives sci-fi RPG lovers the next best thing to this The Outer Worlds 2 discount.

I just bought this $6 Survival Horror Remake in the Steam Summer Sale because $60 Nostalgia is a hard sell
Despite my qualms about the sticker price for nostalgia, this survival horror remake is excellent and a must-buy during the Steam Summer Sale.
The Outer Worlds 2 may not be a perfect game, but it's a fun Sci-Fi RPG worth your time
When the sequel to Obsidian Entertainment's satire-drenched RPG launched last year, it debuted to mixed reviews. This has probably put some off trying, but it's worth spending time with, especially for those more invested in game mechanics than an overarching story. When it comes to The Outer Worlds 2s gameplay, the sequel outshines its predecessor pretty much across the board.

Key features like RPG and combat are much stronger this time around, and the Flaw System returns with even more depth. For those who are not aware of shortcomings in The Outer Worlds 2it is an approach to perks that gives a player's character both a positive and negative attribute based on in-game activity. It leans heavily on the series' cheeky humor, and it adds a deeper layer to the game that makes a character feel even more realistic, as there are specific consequences to actions that ultimately affect gameplay permanently.
For example, one glitch that players can get is Bad Knees. Players who cause their character to crouch too much will gain 50% increased crouch speed, but their knees will also make a cracking sound that can be heard by NPCs within a 10 meter radius. Although Flaws give characters permanent debuffs, the game allows players to opt out of Flaws when offered.
There are many advantages to The Outer Worlds 2, but there are also some disadvantages to consider
-
A disappointing story
-
Uninteresting protagonists
-
Repetitive and empty map areas
-
Limited progression
If The Outer Worlds 2 the success or failure of these features will be deeply subjective depending on a player's preferences, but these are some of the main criticisms the game has faced since launch. The good news is that there are many good ones The Outer Worlds 2 mods out there that can quickly improve some of these key issues.
Although Obsidian Entertainment was the studio behind it Fallout: New Vegasis important to note that it has its own distinct identity from Fall-out entry, so go in and wait for one New Vegas spiritual successor should be avoided.
Fallout 5 is still likely years away, making The Outer Worlds 2 a good placeholder
Last year officially marked a full decade ago Fallout 4 came out, and Bethesda has been pretty quiet about the next main entry ever since. Todd Howard interviews about Fallout 5 over the years has revealed little, and he's made it clear that the game is on Bethesda's to-do list, but that's about it in terms of concrete updates. Fans have been kept in the dark when it comes to a release timeline, and that's worrying.
If The Outer Worlds 2 succeeding or failing these features will be deeply subjective depending on a player's preferences…
There have been leaks and rumors about it The Elder Scrolls 6s release date may not be until 2028 or 2029. If that actually happens to be the case, it is highly likely that Fall-out fans won't see the next mainline game until sometime in the 2030s. All leaks should be viewed with a healthy dose of skepticism, but it's wild to think that 15 years or more could easily pass between heads Fall-out game.
Players always have the option to go back to the past Fall-out game, but the Steam Summer Sale provides the perfect opportunity to try something new for half the price of what the game would normally be. Fallout 76 has been carrying the franchise since 2018, and while it has improved significantly since launch, it can still get stale at times. So, The Outer Worlds 2 is a fantastic palate cleanser that still feels familiar.
Steam Summer Sale runs until July 9thso there are still a few days left to take advantage of this price cut.
The Outer Worlds 2 may not be a 10/10 title, but that shouldn't keep players away. Right now, it's a solid AAA-rated game that can be experienced for just $35. The 2025 gaming calendar was filled with many big surprises that took the spotlight, and they ended up in the shadows The Outer Worlds 2. Games like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and ARC Raiders was the talk of the town, and while that hype was well deserved, some may have missed a fantastic space RPG that The Outer Worlds 2.
From now on, the opportunity to Fallout 5 release date won't be until the 2030s is becoming increasingly likely. With the success of Fall-out TV series, Bethesda's slow pace of development will make it really hard to take advantage of this moment, but the wait will hopefully be worth it. In the end, only time will tell. Until then, there are plenty of great sci-fi RPGs out there to help pass the time, though The Outer Worlds 2 should definitely be at the top of Steam users' lists.
