Steam users have a limited time to play Co-Op games completely free of charge

For a limited time, Steam users can claim and download a new free co-op game on the platform. It is a simple co-op game for two players It takes two and can probably be beaten in a single sitting.

It's worth noting that this is a unique case and not part of Steam's Free-to-Keep promotion. The latter has slowed considerably over the past week or so, with Steam's July Free-to-Keep games list also only featuring two new games. Whatever the reason, fans can expect it to return again soon, but there are other methods of getting free Steam games. For example, this Steam game is currently in a free-to-play model but will soon transition to a full, premium paid model. That means people can play it now without having to pay for it, at least not yet.

Co-Op Extraction Shooter on Steam looks like Project Zomboid but plays like Tarkov

A brand new extraction game on Steam with co-op and PvE seems to be the perfect choice for fans of Escape from Tarkov and Project Zomboid.

Sixth Force is free to play on Steam…for now

The game in question is The Sixth Forcea new Steam game released in June 2026 under a free Early Access banner. Developer EdenSpiel will be transitioning to a paid premium model at the full 1.0 launch, meaning fans should play it now while they can for free (which will happen in a few months). They can always pick it up later if they like, but at its core it's a mandatory two-player co-op game where players are connected by a mysterious psychic link (the titular Force). In other words, it's kind of like It takes two and Chained together had children. They have to use that connection to progress through different levels, use connected powers to move each other and fight enemies, and otherwise just have a good time (which is the goal of any game).

Co-op works locally on a split screen, or online via Steam Remote Play Together.

There is a bright, colorful, almost Candyland-like aesthetic that makes the game even more visually appealing, but make no mistake, there is a deeper and darker story at play. As part of this limited-time free-to-play deal, players can play the tutorial, explore all of its game mechanics, and complete two full levels. All told, it's about an hour of gameplay for two players, making it a short and fun game on Steam.

Of course, developer EdenSpiel is currently hard at work expanding the available content, and the game will be much more expansive at launch. According to EdenSpiel, the full release will include more content, polish, and variety, and that will undoubtedly go a long way for the game. Co-op games on Steam or other platforms are popular for a reason (to play with friends), but there should still be plenty of content to support a friend.

Meanwhile, if The Sixth Force not itching for anything special, it's worth noting that there's a current Free-to-Keep game on Steam's promotion right now. Tell me whythe single-player episodic narrative game, is available completely free until July 1st at 9 a.m. PT/12 p.m. ET.
