EA hit with more layoffs

EA has been hit with more layoffs, with some affected employees reportedly having been with the company for ten years or more. Those who have been laid off from EA may struggle to find more work in the field, as it has been a tumultuous time in the gaming industry as a whole, with layoffs and closures announced at studios worldwide in 2026 alone.

EA Game is shutting down permanently this month

Fans of EA-published games on consoles are running out of time to play one of its games, as its shutdown is just around the corner.

The number of layoffs at EA is currently unknown, but according to Kotaku, workers have been affected in the US and in India, with a mix of remote roles and personal positions. The teams affected include customer support, IT, recruiting and more. An email sent to the customer support team from a department manager hinted at the redundancies a week before the move, which had indicated changes would be made to “certain roles”, with changes to what the teams cover. The move is also said to include “creating new roles”, so some may also have seen some upheaval while still managing to keep a job at the company. These aren't the first layoffs at the company in recent history, as EA's Battlefield Studios also saw layoffs earlier in 2026.
