Boruto: Two Blue Vortex is written by none other than Mikio Ikemoto and overseen by Masashi Kishimoto, the legendary creator of the Naruto series. In the original series which focused on the story of Naruto Uzumaki all the way up to his becoming the Seventh Hokage, romance was just a side plot, which the author didn't put much focus on. By Kishimoto's own admission, he was not good at writing romance, so he tried to avoid it as much as possible. However, Mikio Ikemoto has taken a completely different approach.
In his story, romance and feelings of love are at the center and are incredibly important across many plot lines. Now, the latest V-Jump Issue #8, which will officially be released on June 20, 2026, was revealed, and on the cover, Boruto's most hyped couple was revealed to us for the very first time. This is the pair of the main characters – Boruto Uzumaki and Sarada Uchiha.
Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Reveals New Art of Boruto Uzumaki and Sarada Uchiha on V-Jump Issue #8 Cover
On June 14, 2026, a sneak peek at V-jump Issue #8 was officially revealed, and in this sneak peek it was confirmed that Boruto: Two Blue Vortex would appear on the cover of the magazine. For this cover, Mikio Ikemoto drew a very exciting art featuring two of his main characters, Boruto Uzumaki and Sarada Uchiha. Both Boruto and Sarada are seen sporting red outfits that are clearly matching. Meanwhile, Sarada leans on Boruto's shoulder, and the two pose together in a rather interesting way that is sure to spark talk of them being a couple by the end of the series.
“After all, I've decided to stop running. I like Boruto too.” — Sarada Uchiha declares her feelings for Boruto, Two Blue Vortex Chapter #28
It's no surprise to know that Boruto Uzumaki and Sarada Uchiha are fan-shipped together, and have been since the beginning of the story, in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #23 on May 9, 2016. Since then, even writer Mikio Ikemoto and Masashi Kishimoto have lined up for a perfect romantic plot. Both Boruto and Sarada are known to have feelings for each other, and while they aren't involved in a romantic relationship, the ship is certainly there for all to see. This new cover that was shown will be released in full on June 20, 2026 and adds further fuel to the fire when it comes to this brilliant couple.

Boruto officially confirms a new rescue arc after 21 years
Boruto: Two Blue Vortex officially sets up its new rescue arc with Sarada Uchiha, Code and Boruto Uzumaki.
Boruto and Sarada are both implied to have feelings for each other
Boruto and Sarada's ship is officially known as “BoruSara” among fans, and it is very popular. This is because Boruto Uzumaki is the son of Naruto, while Sarada is the daughter of Sasuke. In the original series, Naruto and Sasuke were also sent together but never ended up together. But their children are very different. Boruto and Sarada are prime candidates to form the biggest romance in the Boruto series, and the latest V-Jump Issue #8 cover will certainly highlight that once again.
“You want to help Boruto, don't you? You truly are my child. To be willing to throw everything else aside for the sake of a single boy.” — Sakura confesses Sarada's love for Boruto, Two Blue Vortex Chapter #34
In fact, Sarada Uchiha in the main story is known to harbor deep feelings of love for Boruto Uzumaki. She has put her life on the line for Boruto on multiple occasions, allowed herself to be slandered for him over a period of three years, and even her Mangekyo Sharingan, which is her strongest power, was awakened due to her deep desire to protect none other than Boruto Uzumaki. Meanwhile, Boruto himself has put his life on the line for Sarada on several occasions and is known to have more than just friendly feelings for her.
While it is highly unlikely that any romantic bond will form between them before the end of the series due to the chaotic, action-heavy nature of the story, it is important to acknowledge their feelings for each other and the ship that Ikemoto and Kishimoto are slowly building. When Boruto: Two Blue Vortex ends, it is highly likely that Konoha's Hokage at the time, that is Sarada Uchiha, will be with the other Hokage of the village protecting it from the shadows, Boruto Uzumaki. This would be the perfect romantic endgame for these two individuals, as well as a sweet ending to the story.
“You want to be Hokage, don't you? Then I'll protect you and play the supporting role!” — Boruto Uzumaki, Boruto Chapter #11

Boruto creator Mikio Ikemoto is lining up a love triangle with Sumire
Whenever romance enters Boruto is discussed, a love triangle always comes up. Boruto Uzumaki is known to hold feelings of adoration for Sarada Uchiha, while the latter is clearly in love with him. But there is also Sumire, who has been thrown into the mix by the author. Sumire has deep feelings of love for Boruto Uzumaki and is not afraid to make her interest known. With her in the mix, Mikio Ikemoto has created a successful love triangle that has divided the fan base.
That said, it's quite clear that Boruto's feelings for Sumire are just those of a friend. Meanwhile, Sumire is just a supporting character in the grand scheme of things, while Sarada is the main heroine of the series. It is highly likely that Boruto and Sarada end up together, while Sumire simply serves the purpose of adding more spice and drama to the romantic plot of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex. In time, Sumire's feelings will unravel, and she will likely end up with someone else, possibly even Kawaki.
“Does it bother you when other girls show interest in Boruto? Well, it really bothers me. I like Boruto!” — Sumire shows her love for Boruto Uzumaki
Boruto and Sarada will form the strongest and most important couple in this series, and V-jump Issue #8 really gave fans a glimpse of a future where these two end up together and rule the village like the power couple that they are. We can only hope that the upcoming new arc of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, which focuses heavily on the character of Sarada Uchiha, gives us more bits pertaining to the romantic plot of her and Boruto. It would be absolutely perfect and raise the stakes of the story further and make it more popular with fans as well.
