God of War Laufey seems to have removed the interaction markers that were everywhere in the Norse games, which actually makes a lot of sense within the canon of the series.
While it hasn't really been that long since the last major God of War game, last week's showstopping reveal of God of War Laufey, a brand new game focusing on Kratos' wife Faye in the afterlife of the gods, was still a big moment for fans. The reveal trailer gave us just enough visuals to get excited, while leaving plenty of mysteries for fans to speculate about.
Since the reveal of God of War Laufey, fans have been digging into the long reveal trailer trying to find out as much as possible about the game, from Faye's mysterious new weapon to the identity of the divisive Phranque and Rue. While we wait for answers to these mysteries, an eagle-eyed fan has discovered a very interesting detail about the environment that ties into the Nordic Games.
God Of War Laufey has seemingly removed environmental markers, and it fits the story
Faye can hardly leave tips herself
Over on the God of War subreddit, Redditor JaxTheNukaEXE pointed out that the gameplay footage of God of War Laufey completely lacks the interaction markers that littered the environment in the Norse games. The God of War's equivalent of yellow is nowhere to be seen in the opening section of Laufey, leaving Faye to figure out where to climb on her own.
While you could just call this a response to the criticism these games received for directing players too much, JaxTheNukaEXE pointed out that this actually makes a lot of sense within God of War canon. In the Norse games, the interaction markers are said to be left by Faye (and perhaps other giants) to help Kratos and Atreus through their journey.
If you're worried about accessibility, I'm sure Laufey will have his own unique version of interaction markers that we just didn't see during the reveal.
Considering this is Faye's first time in Everywen, and she's the one who usually leaves these tips to help others, it makes a lot of sense that they're suddenly nowhere to be seen in Laufey. Of course, on a gameplay level, it's explained away by Faye being able to jump whenever she wants, but it's nice that it also ties into God of War canon.
