Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydraone of the more anticipated single player games of recent years, has been delayed yet again. The game was first announced in 2021, and its first cast was teased almost a year later. Part of Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydras pre-release fame comes from Amy Hennig who leads the project. She is best known as the creator of Uncharted series, widely regarded as one of the most acclaimed third-person adventure series of all time.
This is not the first time Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra has been delayed. In May 2025, the game was moved to early 2026 for “further polishing”. In November of the same year, it was confirmed that the new deadline would not be met. But now that we're six months into 2026, the project has delivered yet another disappointing update to fans.

Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra is playable and it looks like the trailers, says Paramount Executive
In a recent interview with IGN, Paramount Games Studios senior vice president Shawn Kittelsen confirmed that Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra is still in active development. But given the game's AAA scope and the fact that only a small team of developers is working on it, fans shouldn't expect a release until at least 2027. Despite the disappointing update, Kittelsen also shared some encouraging news. First, he assured fans that the game looks just like what was shown in previous trailers for Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra. He also confirmed that the game already has a playable build.

“It's sitting on my hard drive right now. So I can go through and play the build,” Kittelsen told IGN. He also explained that Amy Hennig and her team have ambitious plans for the project, and that Paramount Games Studio is willing to give them “sufficient time to cook.” Kittelsen noted that too Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra is done with “a fraction of the resources [spent] on other AAA games.”
During the same interview, Kittelsen admitted that the development team's initial schedule may have been too ambitious. He said, “[Those plans] didn't take into account all the things that could disrupt production.” Now that Paramount Games Studio is overseeing development, the focus has shifted toward quality, giving the team more time and setting more realistic deadlines.”[The] the game will come out when it's ready,” Kittelsen concluded.
The Paramount executive also said that the company's gaming division is currently prioritizing the completion and release of Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydrawhich suggests that some other projects, including the unnamed Star Wars the game, may be slowed or paused for the time being. “One thing at a time, we'll address it Star Warstalk about it when 1943 is done,” he said.
For now, it seems Marvel fans have been waiting for Rise of Hydras release will have to wait at least another year. On the plus side, the extended development timeline could ensure a more polished final product that lives up to its AAA rating and avoids joining the list of highly anticipated games that ultimately fell short of expectations.
